Is the AO WW2 replica 1911 MA Compliant? I remember seeing some for sale at L.E. Supply a few years ago and I have a buddy who may be looking for one. Thank you.

how do you like it Weasel, Are these cast parts? I like the looks of them. got a good retro look. Kinda into that right now.

It is MA legal, but many people I know who have bought them ended up hating the thing. It seems to be a hit or miss as to whether or not you're
going to end up with a functional handgun. On the other hand a few people have the things and they work fine. Go figure. "You pays your money and you take your chances. "

I almost bought one a couple years ago but the bad reviews turned me off. Like drgrant said it seems hit or miss but more likely to miss. I wish S&W would come out with a "GI" model.

I bought a 1911 AO in 10mm That was the testbed for the 10mm w/ the Secret Service, FBI. I can say it failed because of over penetration, then the .40S&W arrived. It weighs 1.5 pounds more w/ an 8 round mag (Standard 7 round .45 mag). compared to a .45acp. I've had mine for 20 years. Sub sonic to supersonic is a big jump.

I have one I bought newq at Collectors in Stoneham. I like it alot. I also have a custom Colt series 70 but I wanted a standard military model. Kahr's customer service is great.

I carried one for years. It was an old, beat up knockaround carry piece, would only eat jacketed 230grn, was picky on mags, and rattled when you shook it. I loved it. Trigger was awesome. Sights sucked. A gun you really had to learn, and since I was poor, I had to learn it. I picked it up for $300 and got $250 for it in trade value towards my HK45.

The difference between them is night and day. It's like going from an old CJ-5 to a brand new Rubicon Wrangler. The new one's nice, but sometimes you miss the ol' girl.

I haven't shot one but I've inspected one at the local shop. I wasn't impressed with fit, feel and overall quality.

I agree with the Smithy GI concept. Absolutely. If they made a milspec model and it became MA compliant, I'd most likely pick one up. I had a SW1911 not long ago that I sold to fund another project. In general, a very nice 1911. I like the traditional features though.

A guy at the range came up to me and asked for help with his brand new out of the box AO that he had for a hour.

He was having a problem getting the mags out and evidently he never cleaned it or oiled it and just came right from the gun shop with it.

I broke it down and cleaned and oiled it for him and it ran fine then. When I took it apart I saw that the pistol seemed decent enough and the only thing I didn't real like about it was the old style GI sights that were made for young eyes.

Over all though, I would think you better off buying a used S&W for a couple of hundred more.

Well mine has been fine. Overall well fitted, has been reliable. It is a much nicer gun than ANY 1911a1's I ever saw or was issued by uncle sam. (when I was in they where at end of life.)

The only flaw I found was some machine marks in the barrel but it shoots and funtions fine. I would buy another for a low cost 1911 in ma I think they are a decent buy.
(I am the type to repair/replace parts if I think they need to be done, And I have not done any work on it. )

Now if I was looking for a gun to put thousands of rounds through and target shoot/comp with no You will want a nicer one. but for a nice looking 1911a1 .mil clone
I am happy with it.
