Quick question for the legal eagles on this forum.

If for some god forsaken reason AWB v2022 passes through Congress and its signed into law, how quickly will SCOTUS be able to step in and give it a smack down and what would be the process?

If the AWB v2022 is struck down, I would assume that this would also strike down the MA AWB

Groups like GOA and 2nd Foundation would immediately file lawsuits asking to put a stay on the enactment until legality can be settled. Your usual characters will then pop out of the woodwork like Everytown and the NRA and write supporting opinions for the legislation.

Eventually federal courts will come to split decisions on the stay, presumably kicking the stay to scotus who I would imagine would grant the stay and let the legal teams do their thing inside rhe framework of Bruen.

The rules will get decided and appealed all the way back to scotus again, who in all likelihood will decline to hear the resulting case.

Voted through committee. Now would go to full House vote if Pelosi pushes it.

Democratic Reps. Jared Golden, D-Maine, and Henry Cuellar, D-Texas have said they won’t support the bill while Republican Reps. Chris Jacobs, R-N.Y., and Adam Kinzinger, R-Ill., have said they are open to voting for a ban, according to The Hill. House Democrats have a four-vote margin.

The Assault Weapons Ban of 2021 was advanced in a 25-18 vote but a date for a vote on the House floor has not been set.

I won’t be shocked if it passes the House. The Senate will be more difficult.

The Dems don’t care at all about the mid-terms when it comes to pushing their agenda. They either plan to lose by historic margins and have worked that into their calculus or they plan to cheat by historic proportions and never lose power

The latter.

They have that same cavalier smugness Brandon and Kameltoe and their people did during the 2020 campaign, as if they already knew the fix is in.

They want to renew the '92 AWB with a grandfathering clause. Without the grandfathering clause, it would mean confiscation.
Sorry, hoss. That's full on go time. There is no "confiscation" that those who support the constitution will endure. You want a civil war, that's how you get a civil war, like Lexington and Concord type stuff.

I'll add that if these surveys are even remotely accurate, we're getting much closer to the Go-Time clock striking midnight.

Half of Americans expect a second U.S. civil war within YEARS, more than 40% agree with 'great replacement theory' and nearly a fifth expect they will choose to bring a gun to a violent political row, alarming poll shows

It’s tied to a police funding bill. Expect it to pass. the gop that vote for it will say that the police funding bill was too important even with the awb rider. They just did the same thing here in MA for licensing. You’ll see more than RINOs vote for this one.

ETA it looks like the awb bill is on its own but linked to deals made on other bills regarding police funding, it’s not a rider to a police funding bill. Follow the money on this one post-Mortem to see which gop members got their pud pulled on the main police funding bills in exchange for voting for the awb bill.

If this passes and we do nothing, we’re the problem.

Don’t labor under the delusion that it has to pass.

An EO is possible because Biden will sign anything. Unlikely though.

Don’t discount reconciliation and being tucked in to another bill at 23:59 with a vote at 00:01. Because seriously, how many bills are actually read?

As for me, PASS IT, let’s get on with it - no stopping the train at this point, just how fast it gets here.

There is no f***ing bill that has existed or will ever exist which is more important than killing an attempt to remove people's civil rights.
