I just purchased this and I'm having trouble getting the slide off according to the manual. Any suggestions?

thanks

Pics might help. Or reading the manual again.
You have to push the button on the right side and turn the lever down on the left side. I'm no weakling, but I can't push the button in far enough.

Alrite well it’s pretty straight forward, so don’t be insulted by this but I gotta ask, is the chamber clear?

ETA: also, some pistols you need to do a press check type of action to get the release to work. Try pulling the slide back to the divet/cut out in the slide where your slide catch would go and see if the release has any more play that way. Sometimes I’ve had to use a small flat head screwdriver to help pry it up a little before I can get my fat fingers on it.

Ha, yes it is, no mag trigger pulled. The gun is new and I know on some past firearms these things take a few times to get them loosened up.

From the video, you must push from right-to-left the "button" (takedown lever pin) while turning down the takedown lever to the 6-o'clock position.

OP may only be turning the TD lever and not allowing the machined-in steps on the TD lever to clear the trigger assy. I believe the TD lever steps and slots are also
used to capture the trigger assy and keep it in its location. Going by the video, at least that's what it looks like to me...

That's weird because the instructions in the online manual say to lock the slide back first. I'll try it that way. That is the 1st APX not the A1 that I have.
Post #18 shows the A1. As well as Post #8.

Neither shows slide in a locked-back position. It is in full battery with the trigger pulled on an empty chamber and unloaded gun.

I'll just go shoot it a bit and see if it loosens up.
I just can't get myself to fire a gun that I haven't disassembled/inspected/lubed first. 🤪

The mere fact that I understand the mechanics of a firearm and that it is in working order is critical.

So, here's what it says on the Beretta manual page. But, I tried it like enbloc's video on the compact and that's how it comes off. Simple and easy.
The instructions suck.
