So the club I belong to (Westford Sportsmens Club) has all memberships renew Jan 1. Just sent in my renewal a couple of days ago. It's close to home, great group of people and nice facilities.

I was thinking of joining a second club (Harvard) as I have been there before to watch some action events and I noted they have some nice rifle ranges (300 yards). The question I have is do they also renew every January or do you renew on the anniversary of joining the club. I only ask this so I can spread out the cost of memberships over the year. Thanks for your help.

Harvard reups in Feb. I can't remember how they handle it for partial years (they may prorate, vellenue just joined, may want to ask him) since I needed the membership for suitability purposes and couldn't get around it I just signed the check, I may have even given it to her blank[smile]. But if you show up to the february meeting, you should be good to go for just paying the full year and getting a full year.

Speaking from experience (I process 1000 +/- renewals each year) most clubs use volunteer help and it's sooo much easier to bill everyone at the same time instead of trying to bill 12 diferent times a year. I'd be suprised to learn of clubs that don't bill all at once, though it is possible, just seems like a lot more to keep track of.

Some clubs charge you the first year pro-rated depending on when you join. One of the two I belong to do it.

Some may let you pay an installment, though most all only want that when there is a hardship.

What does Harvard cost per year? What do both Harvard and Westford have for indoor pistol ranges if any? I am thinking of joining somewhere soon.

Harvard is $150/yr + $150 one time fee. Harvard has a 25 yard indoor range with 24x7 access.

Harvard has a nice indoor pistol range open 24/7, that just had a brand new heat and air scrubbing system installed. It's $150 initiation fee to join + yearly dues (normally $150, but you can work off up to $75; but it's prorated this time of year. I think it'd be under $60 by now.)

We've been members just a month and LOVE it. It's great facilities, and we're really impressed with the safety consciousness of the club and lack of pointless restrictions.

Westford does, but good luck getting access to it. I paid for the code when I joined in September, and have sent emails to check on the status, and I have received no responses. Frustrating to say the least. I was thinking about going to MRA after the first of the year.
