Didn't find mention of this in a keyword search... Justice Barrett has

Here is the question in Bevis v. Naperville and the State of Illinois, No. 22A948:

Can the government ban the sale, purchase, and possession of certain semi-automatic firearms and firearm magazines tens of millions of which are possessed by law-abiding American for lawful purposes when there is no analogous historical ban as required in D.C. v. Heller (2008)…and New York State Rifle & Pistol Association v. Bruen (2022).

There is a tornado of legal activity storming over Illinois. One is gonna go to SCOTUS, if not all consolidated of course.

Looks pretty good for pro-2A but will be a rollercoaster of a ride for the next 9-18 months!

A SC case can only strengthen our rights. We are headed swiftly into a "are you people mentally challenged??? We've had three separate decisions on this and you still don't get it. Let's make it ultra-clear - you cannot pass laws denying people's rights except with these narrow exceptions." (While I will disagree with their exceptions, they will make some - which will likely go away in a couple of decades after everyone gets comfortable with this.)

I could see the SC defining or redefining what formerly-incarcerated could own guns, the strict limits on permitting (take their picture, get their name and info and get them their card!) and restrictions on machine guns. Everything else may be up for grabs including SBR's and silencers. Wonder what mASS would do if hte SC stated that silencers were protected. Wouldn't that be a riot???? How many ATF agents could we then lay off as well?????

Here is a link to the amicus brief filed with SCOTUS by former Solicitor General Paul Clement discussed in the Mark Smith video posted by @Dressed to Kill -- Amicus Brief - P. Clement

Would have to watch the video again to see how Smith comments on the Clement bitch slap of the 7th Circuit for the way they handled staying the TRO.

The SC has made it clear unless there is a massive issue, they are trying NOT to get in the middle of cases that are winding their way. At least when it comes to gun rights. Medical - seems like they dick-step all the time.
