I went hiking and huckleberry picking over the weekend in some serious grizz country (fresh scat everywhere). After a great day hiking when we got back to the trail head I figured I'd do some plinking with my 454 since they have an informal range near the parking area. My gf took a nap in the car and I ran a few cylinders of 454 through my Ruger Super Blackhawk.
I felt something wet and looked down to see myself completely soaked in blood. For the life of me I couldn't figure out 1.) How a thumb can bleed so badly, 2.) How recoil could have done this....
I think I cut it without knowing on the reloading gate. They can be really stiff and I recall it "letting go" but really didn't think I could slice my thumb that badly with it...
Anyway, the bear gun did more damage to me this weekend than the bears did....
But, as Hickok45 says life is good, we scored a ton of huckleberries and got a great hike in.
