I've pretty much only shot Glocks and 1911s for the last 20 years until about 5 years ago. That's when I bought a P365. Generally, I'm a Glock bigot, but their products in the Micro 9 and 380 area are inferior to other brands.
I disagree with. your assessment on the quality of the Bodyguard. I'd say it is just as nicely made.
The trigger in particular is better than a Glock 42, unless they have improved it in the last few years. (I sold my 42 about 4 years ago)
One way that it is clearly superior to the 42 is in shootability. Even though it's small.er. Much smaller

IMHO it's because despite being smaller, the Smith has a much longer grip, allowing you to get your whole hand on the gun.
In this pic, with the guns aligned at the top of the front strap, you can see how much longer the front strap is. The length of the front strap is what allows you to control muzzle flip.

The other reason the Smith is so shootable is its lower bore axis. In the following photo the guns are aligned at the center of the bore axis.
Look how much higher a grip the smith allows you to get.

Also, despite being smaller the Bodyguard has a magazine that holds 65% more ammo.
So in the end, you have a carry gun that is smaller, better shooting, and holds more ammunition.
