I bought a BCG from Bravo on Sept 17th. I received it ok, it looked great and installed it in my Windham AR. It seemed a bit stiff but it functioned ok. I put a couple of hundred rounds through over two trips to the range and when I broke it down for a thorough cleaning the other day I noticed unusual wear on the extractor and in the interior where the cam pin is. I have two other BCG’s from other rifles that do not show this kind of wear after several hundred rounds. I have attached pic’s of what I am talking about. I reached out to Bravo already (haven't heard back but it is the weekend). I wanted to see if anyone here has seen this kind of wear, is this normal or do I need to get a replacement? (sorry for the huge pic's, still figuring out this board)

It doesn't look bad.
Is it something you can feel or just the finish worn?
Try looking inside the carrier and see if there is any noticable wear where the extractor rubs.
I wouldn't worry unless it gets worst.

The extractor sticks up a bit and you can feel it rubbing when I work the bolt in and out ( don't have the o-ring installed). See the pic below, you can see its raised a bit. Hard to tell if there is other wear other than whats shown on the pics as its chromed inside.

The wear in the cam pin slot does not look like wear at all. It looks like a slight "overflow" of the chrome lining in the carrier. I have seen that before. Now the bolt does show wear at the rear extractor edge but doesn't seem bad at all. It probably won't wear any further and if the rifle functions fine I would not worry. Moving parts will wear eventually. That is very slight wear in my opinion. Nothing to worry about.......unless.......it gets bad. I'm not a gunsmith though but if it were my rifle it wouldn't get another thought.

I just looked at my Bravo BCG I purchased thru Rainier around the same time frame , maybe july or august I'd have to dig thru my paperwork , there is no wear like that on the extractor , I only have fired maybe 40rds with it, but it doesn't look anything like yours.

I'd be surprised if they don't have you return it .

Infidel, thanks for the response. None of my other BCG's have this kind of wear either... and at $189 I want it to be pretty close to perfect.

I got a reply from my email to Bravo... they pretty much said to contact them if there was a malfunction. Not sure I am too happy with that... I may just replace the extractor and spring and see if that fixes it.

You said you can feel it dragging ? I would say that is a malfunction , do you see a corresponding wear mark inside the upper, it has to be dragging against something to take the finish off ?

I paid $189 for the one I have , I bought it thru Rainier after the BCG I got from them came thru without a chrome lined gas key , ad said it was chrome lined , and the gas key bolts were poorly staked. They did make me send it back on my dime before refunding me, I bought the BCM bcg they had listed because they are always out of stock everywhere and it was in stock and I didn't want to chance it being out of stock when they saw the issues with theirs I returned.

I can check my BCM BCG when I get home, although it was purchased a couple of years ago and have more rounds with it also. As to their response, there has been quite a few posts on ARFCOM about their "lack of concern" when someone contacts them. Bravo has said that if you are looking for a safe queen, don't buy their product, their products are battle tested and function 100%. (I'm paraphrasing as I used to have a screen shot of the actual wording) That is why they said unless it is malfunctioning. It's just hard for most guys to drop that kind of money on a product and not have it 100%. It's not like you purchased a blem or a trunk gun trade in.

CLick Me found the pic its poster #5.

You can't say you can feel it dragging unless you remove the gas rings. They are what cause most of the drag.

So remove the rings and give it a try. The cam pin slot looks fine.

The other thing you can do is to color in the back of the extractor with a sharpie. Work it back and forth inside the bolt a few times. If the sharpie is gone after a few strokes, then its still hitting. I wouldn't accept no for an answer. Tell them you want a new bolt or you will send the whole thing back. If they push back, tell them it will be on the way tomorrow and you will be disputing the CC charge if they don't replace.

I'm not one of these people wo worrys about finish imperfections on an AR. But this looks like it could cause scoring inside the cylinder of the BC and if that happens, the bolt won't seal in the BC and that could cause malfunctions

Personally I'm not impressed with their product QC or their customer service. Especially for the premium one pays for the Marketing hype.

Yeah, I don't care about minor imperfections either, but this is can cause me problems down the road..

I got another email from them this afternoon... they told me to send it back and they will fix or replace. They sent me a form to fill out and everything[smile]

Well, Bravo came through. Sent back the BCG on the 16th, brand new replacement arrived this morning. I guess they agreed with me that the first one had problems. Thanks Bravo, cant wait to get to the range to try it out.

I'd also send it back... that said it shouldn't compromise function as the gas acts on the "tail" of the bolt, or aft of the gas rings.
