Got one of these a few weeks back. Put a Vortex Diamondback 4-12 scope on with Leupold rings. This rifle has a standard size plastic stock (in FDE vs. black) but a shorter 16 inch threaded barrel. Since it's a bolt gun I took the opportunity to thread on a vortex flash hider. Balances out the look of the rifle, I thought it looked a little stubby. Would offer a little benefit shooting in low light.

Despite the modest price the thing can shoot. I put maybe 100 rounds through it yesterday pretty quickly and got some nice groups- a bunch of 3 shot groups that I could cover with a dime at 100 yds.

The trigger doesn't adjust down as low as the advertised 3 pounds. I can get it down to about 4. I notice a little creep but overall it's a decent trigger.

Wish the stock had a higher comb but I can make it work. The gun has no iron sights so no reason why they shouldn't mold these stocks with a higher comb. Would cost them nothing.

overall for the money it's a very nice gun. Good coyote gun. It's also chambered in .300blk. If I lived in NH that gun with a suppressor would be in my safe already.

my buddy bought a "regular" american in .223 to keep at his farm for predators. loves the thing. was going to get a savage but was nosing around kittery and they had this ruger but not on the rack. it was a customer return that went back to the factory for a feeding issue. my friend bought it for really short money, forget exact amount but around $235. they probably just wanted to get out from underneath it. anyway, nothing wrong with it now and he's happy.

Funny you mention a feeding issue, mine has issues feeding the third round in the mag. Ruger is sending a new mag. Looking at the internets it seems to be common. Looks like guys have had luck shaving down the feed lips a little on the mag (it's plastic). When my new mag arrives I'll try that with the old one.

yeah, thought this was only with his rifle, interesting. they gave him the work order it returned with so i got to get him to read it in detail. curious if anything what repair and replacement parts it received. anyway, bottom line is it's working fine now and like yours, pretty accurate. i'm sure the feeding will be sorted out soon, enjoy that rifle.
