Browning A5 Stalker for skeet and hunting

My father and I are very interested in the A5 Stalker for skeet and hunting in MA. It seems to have all the features I want: Invector tubes, ventilated ribs, recoil pad etc. I was looking at the Benelli's semi autos but they are all 1500$ and up. I know you get what you pay for and the A5 is around a grand, but is the A5 a better shotgun? Oh and I want a 12ga, 28 inch. Thanks

I'm very very cautious about new models being introduced. This is not the original A5, the new version has a similar look but is an all new design. I'd focus my energy on an Remington 1100 or a Beretta A400, the Benelli SuperSport is one sweet gun.
 
It has some newer features which I like. My dad's friend has the older A5 from the 1970's. It kicks real hard but it's a beauty. It doesn't have an invector choke or any recoil system. I figure Browning still makes the A5 to the same quality as the older ones. Thanks for the other options though, I'm still searching.
 
Modern gas shotgun - buy a Beretta or a Benelli.
I'm sorry, but I am pissed at Browning over this.
I for one do not like this thing they call the "New A".
I'm mad at Browning for using the name of John M. Browning's most geunius work in vain.
This damn shotgun should be called something, anything other than A5.
The real A-5's were made in Belgium (I've got two of them, one is NIB from 1970),
Browning is going to tarnish the name of something that many of us think of as holy.

When I was a boy my grandfather's Belgian Browning A-5 in 16 gauge was the end all to end all of shotguns.

I dont know much about shotguns, but I looked at the Benelli super black eagle at collectors. That is one beautiful 12G! Priced at $1100 and change, definitely on my "to buy list"
 
We have my fiances grandfathers 1930s A5, beautiful gun, and it would be in nicer condition if not for her dad giving it to a friend who slammed his truck bed on the stock and then tried to glue it back together. It had a couple reliability issues, so I broke it down to the pins and cleaned what almost looked like tar, but really was probably 80 years of not being cleaned, and now it runs like a swiss watch. I am conflicted on whether I should try to fix the stock the other guy started, or just put the original wood aside and throw new wood on it. I also need a new butt-plate (which was smashed in half).

crazymjb - What is the A5, Lt 12 or a 16? If its a 12 I might just purchase a stalker stock for it (black plastic forarm and stock). You can find them on Ebay from time to time. Just know the Browning factory wood will cost you an arm and a leg. As it sits now your shotgun is damaged, but you said it runs great so you want to save it. Also midwest gunworks is the place for A5 parts. They sell the new spring kits that can bring an old worn out A5 back to life.
If some SOB damaged either my grandfathers or my dad's A-5's I'd want to kill him.

I've decided on the Benelli Super Black Eagle II in Mossy Oak. Going to pick it up later today, I'm excited. The new A5's are garbage compared to the Benelli. Thanks guys

Just inherited my fathers A5 Belgium 20 Ga. vented rib. Was the last year of the Belgium before they went japanese. My mom bought it for my father for christmas back in the early 70's before I was even a thought. New in box never fired still in two pieces.
