Should I get it with night sights or regular sights? What do you think of the SigLite night sights?

I understand they're probably not as good as getting regular sights and then getting aftermarket fiber optics sights or a better brand of tritium sights.

Please keep on topic (i.e. don't tell me I should get a different gun or anything).

weigh out the costs. If it is cheaper to buy the gun equipped with them than buying sights later on and possibly having to pay for the install than go for it. If it is significantly more, than you may want to buy it without the night sights. its really up to you

All P229s coming off the assembly line destined for MA have night sights already installed. I don't know why that is but SIG doesn't want to sell these guns in MA any other way. I would probably go ahead with the night sights unless you have something else in mind.

sounds good. I hadn't really had anything else in mind. I saw a really old "review" from like 2003 on the THR that most posters seemed to think the SigLites were junk. I doubt they are but wasn't sure if it would be worth it to pony up the extra cash for "better" ones.

Buying with the night sights is only like 80 bucks more than what it would be without them so it's not really an issue.

I suppose if for some unlikely reason that I just can't stand them I could always change them out.

Thanks guys.

$$$ I don't think it is Sig but actually the distributer who is doing this. But it is an upsell so they can make a few bucks more per. Given there is no open market here, they can get away with it. Yet another way the supposed consumer protection is raping us consumers on dollar $80 at a time...

The sig night sites (I have them on my 229) are not as strong as trijicon, but if it is dark enough, they do just fine.

I would think they'd be required to sell them however they were tested by the Commonwealth of Mass.

I have the factory night sights: great at night, not so great for daylight.

Assuming they are sub-par I would still get them if you ever plan on carrying @ night. I've had NS in the past that just weren't as bright as a brand new pair, but were still very useful in low light situations. Although NS in general (unless you have the TruGlo TFO's) aren't as nice as white dots in the daytime, I've never had them actually hinder my performance. Of course YMMV.

In darkness, unless you have NS or a light source of some kind, the only way your gonna pick up your sights is with muzzle flash, and that can be dangerous.

Forget the sig lites, get Truglo TFO's. I've got them on my p220 and love them so much I'm thinking of having my 1911's slide cut to accept them. Laryk loved them so much he bought a pair for his USP.

I have to agree with LT1MCSS on that one. I have siglites on my 1997 vintage P229 and they work fine. If they come with the gun you purchase, try 'em out and if they work for you, fine...if not try some of other brands suggested. It's really as simple as that, I think.

must be a new thing. I bought a new P229 in MA about 6 months ago and it had regular sights.

It is. The guys at a shop I frequent told me about it when it happened in July because I was buying a P226 from them and I still had the option back then.

I like the factory NS on Sig handguns. I can get by with the "bar dot" system but for me the 3 dot siglites end up being more accurate.

sig

sigs are dealer direct , and they only send them into ma, with night siights
it started about 4 months ago.

To me night sights are a bonus. I personally like a 3 dot sight system. So, to get a gun from the factory with night sights already installed is one less thing you have to pay for later.

Any gun I buy, I look to install night sights. The only two guns that don't are my mosquito because it is a .22 and I don't care and my pocketlite because I haven't found a set.

I wish Glock would do this will all their guns. Their factory sights suck...
