A friend of mine just gave me a call he had just left Shooters Outpost in NH and told me that he asked about using a C&R to buy a Luger that was a C&R gun.

They told him that their business doesn't recognize C&R FFL's. I asked him if it a C&R from anywhere or just from Mass as he had told me he mentioned to them that he is from Mass. They also said they will not ship to a Mass dealer as I had mentioned that he could have it shipped to Carl and pick it up their with his C&R. But he said they won't ship either.

I have never heard of anything like that, especially about the C&R. I guess it is a private business and can make their own rules.

They don't need to. They can ship directly to him, as a C&R holder... No need to involve Carl.

I get that MA has sellers in other states spooked. All of us who do business with our C&Rs have had the fun experience of "convincing" out-of-staters that MA law doesn't prohibit shipping to C&R holders. But I'd hope that a dealer on the New Hampshire borderlands would know better.

Their company, their policies. If they want to lose sales, that's their business.

they are free to sell OR NOT TO SELL to any legally licensed FFL

But the way they ID check at the registers for MA licenses it does not surprise me at all

Another "deli ticket" gun shop.

Do you really need to escort me from the second floor to the first with a 10 round magazine and then check my ID?

This isn’t new. It’s a policy they’ve had for some time now. They wouldn’t sell me a C&R gun about 8-10 years ago when I tried to purchase. Basically they don’t accept them.

Shooter's is an awesome gun store, better than any gun show in NH, but they are a typical FFL and do typical FFL dumb bullshit.
No, they are not. There are better places in NH that actually understand local and Federal law. But don't criticize Jim or he'll challenge you to come in so he can whip you in person for dissing his store.

I said I like the store and is better than any gun SHOW, not store, SHOW in the state. Every gun show in NH I've been other than that first time I went to the Concord show in the ice rink has been lame.

Did you tell your friend to tell the NH Deli ticket emporium to ship to the MA Deli ticket emporium?
[laugh]

This could be as good as the prank of calling two Chinese food restaurants and have them speak with each other over the phone. Maybe better than the prank.

Listen to this while thinking about the 2 employees having a conversation about shipping a gun.

Yup, I recall a NES member posted about a poor experience at Shooter's Outpost here on the forum. An owner/employee of Shooter's came on and told the customer to come into the store so he can beat on him. Classy.

It's always a toss of the dice when it comes to out of State FFL's that will deal with C&R's' or anyone from MA.

It's not uncommon. Most 01 shops don't know the laws and regs about C&R, and it's not worth their time to learn. It's too small a part of their business.

I've had shops argue with me that C&R meant antique, and that antique meant over 100 years old (both are wrong).

I know you're talking about interstate transfer of a pistol, so that's a pain. It's also not worth pursuing.

This shop is in NH, so what you experienced was a healthy dose of NH freedom :)
The freedom for a privately owned retailer to operate their business as they see fit? Isn't this like 10 year old news? Maybe Admin can combine all the whiney SO rant threads?

It was explained to me by someone fairly trustworthy (in state) that many FFLs won't deal with C&Rs is because there is no validation system and I suppose they don't feel comfortable with that. Anyone with an 03 will have their share of coming across FFLs who insist that they can't sell to 03s because (insert reasons here). I was told on GB once that Massachusetts doesn't recognize 03s and I was trying to break the law. You also come across the FFLs who won't ship anything to MA at all. Fun stuff.

Its all fun, I went to a VT gun store when I first got my 03 after settling on a price. I gave him a copy of my 03 and he politely said, “im sorry son I dont deal with that shit , now its perfectly legal for me to sell you these long guns and you bring them home to MA where you follow up on your state laws” we talked a bit and he just never has delt with them so he chooses not to.
I always though FFL dealers liked 03s as they are easy to process?

You leave that MA attitude at the border.. This is NH we are talking about, and everything in NH is considered freedom no matter how restrictive it may be.

I only went in there once because I was in the area with a couple friends. They wouldn’t sell one of them a semi auto shotgun with a factory 5 rd mag. The guy was a blow hard spouting how well he knew MA laws. Was also claiming MA cops were going there and buying mags for the unclean common folk and they were burned like that a few times. Every cop I know that’s a real shooter gets their shit mailed to them but also tracing mags back to the store was a stretch.

That video might be old but i never heard or seen it before, that was awesome!

I just brought this back up to show what everyone is dealing with. I have this archived in my word folder for just such occasions. As far as I am concerned this guy is just on a power trip. Good thing he isn't a cop.

This was posted April 27, 2019 on Northeast Shooters Page #8 about Shooters Outpost opening a new store in Amherst, NH

FID & buy all the Ammo in the place. No FID/ no ammo. It does prevent ammunition from my store to be on your streets by the people that you wouldn’t want to be in public with your family. It has little to do with your AG. To prevent the accusations of profiling, we ask everyone to see the FID/or LTC. There has been more than you could ever imagine. No card holder has ever left without ammunition or compliant long guns they’ve wanted. You folks think it’s about you, it’s about the ones that can’t get what you have. If I just sold to everyone without asking, you’d be more pissed off if one of those “bad” sales ended up with it being unlawful to shop on this side of the border or your family were victimized by one of those scum. Come work for a week, I’ll show you some that would scare the shit out of you!

I’ve never been there. I know Sarco in Pennsylvania wouldn’t sell me any 15 round M1 carbine magazines to bring to my father in law in Tennessee. He seemed to be a bit of a douche.
