while it kind of screams "zip gun"... the fact that it is all machined parts lead me to belive it came off an assembly line somewhere

closest thing i could find is this...

an "August Schuler gas/starter pistol"

http://www.militaryradio.com/spyradio/misc_clan.html

(ignore all the agency stuff on the page)

while it doesnt look 100% it looks damn close right down to the empty screw holes on yours matching where the pastic grips would screw on

so this might help a little, if it is in fact an "August Schuler" there should be "A S S" intitals stamped on the butt of the handle or possibly elsewhere

good luck

masterguns, that’s the closest I have got so far. It looks like that gun, it operates exactly like that gun, even the description of the barrel is the same. Only difference is this gun is all aluminum with steel barrel liner, the one you found is all steel. Thanks for the time. Herb ps I do have all the parts except the grips.

fbirdquik6, I got it from my father after he passed away. He was a very talented part time gunsmith, although he did not make this pistol. I also have a 45 double derringer and a 264 Winchester mag rifle he did make, and both those are stamped and are listed in his old log books.

45collector I have a very old 10 gauge shotgun that has no serial number or markings. And when I inquired about this at a local gun shop, they told me that’s not uncommon.
