CBS Evening News- 6:30 - 7:00

WTF? Almost all of the guns they showed were actual machine guns. They showed an M-16, then showed some kind of Cobray looking submachine gun. They even showed what resembled a M249 SAW. This is being dishonest considering the increase in sales isn't machine guns, its semiautomatics and assault "weapons" not assault rifles. They are trying their old tricks where they blur the line between machine guns and semiautomatic, scary looking rifles.

I dont think they are as much blurring the line as much as they are just pushing an easy story. Most people's intimacy with firearms comes from Television and Movies, places where all the bad guys have fully automatic arms. Its the public perception for the most part. Someone sees an AR15 in the news, via one of our current wars, its in FA, go to the movies its in FA.

Why do research on a topic that such a small segment of the populace is aware of? Much easier to grab some stock footage, write a few lines and let the images and packaging speak for itself.
