Well, when a women tied up and or being raped, it's a little hard to call 911 don't you think? Thus, why either having a CCW or a person close by with a CCW can be essential for survival. Did this get any coverage by the media? Nope. Will this guy get an award or some kind? Probably not. He only saved the lives of two people and killed a BG...

Sex offender fatally shot
Brighton man kills man attacking pair of women

A Brighton man shot and killed a 44-year-old registered sex offender who attacked two women in their home early Tuesday morning, officials said.

According to Dist. Atty. Gen. Mike Dunavant, David Fleming charged into the home of two women at about 3 a.m. Tuesday.

Fleming bound the women but one escaped and ran to a nearby home. Dunavant said Fleming, who lived in Munford, intended to rape the women.

The woman who escaped went to the home of Keith Ingram for help, Dunavant said.

Ingram, carrying a .40-caliber handgun, ran to the house and found Fleming attacking the other woman, officials said.

When Fleming tried to attack Ingram, Dunavant said Ingram shot Fleming once.

Tipton County Sheriff's deputies and Brighton Police officers found Fleming dead on the front porch of the home.

Fleming had been convicted of attempted rape in Tipton County. He's listed on the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation's sex-offender registry.

Dunavant said Ingram has no criminal record and has a permit to carry the handgun.

The women who were attacked were treated at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Tipton.

TBI officials are assisting with the case. The Shelby County Medical Examiner will conduct an autopsy. Investigators took statements from several witnesses Tuesday. The shooting is still under investigation.

Any time a firearm is discharged and someone is shot, even when the police do it, there's always going to be an investigation. In TN, I doubt anything comes of it.

He was supposed to tell the frantic woman that he'd call police & hold her hand while they waited for the approved dispensers of justice to arrive, while her friend got assaulted. [rolleyes]

Good thing there are still good people out there, but it's too bad he'll only get good press in shooting magazines.

Tennessee

I have a friend in Tennessee, what has been a police oficer. As he commented the shooter would be asked if the BG need shooting. If the shooter said "yes' and there were no other problems, it was all over.

If that happened in Massachusetts...

that shooter would be sitting in jail and there would be people in front of his house picketing. [hmmm]

They should just hand out copies of this article and others like it to felons when they get released from prison. Might make them think, after all the're gonna need something to read while they wait for the bus.

I would just like to congradulate him on saving the tax payers a ton of money for not having to take care of that guy in jail and all the other costs that could have been racked up.That deserves a toast to honest people.
[cheers]
