Question... if someone butchered an original stainless colt delta elite with a shitty cerakote job

Is there any way to restore the stainless

I'm looking at making an offer for one but just curious about my options.

IMO it would take significant work to restore the original look of the stainless. Either brushed or polished. Mostly due to the media blasting before Cerakote gets applied. Better to get a better Cerakote job done to it.

Yeah i kinda figured but thanks for confirming

Time to lowball the shit out of him

Looking at some pics it appears you would have to sand blast if the finish has been oven cured if not maybe an automotive reducer (from one account). There may be some aggressive chemical strippers available (like used for powder coat).

Looks like only the slab sides are grained.
Process looks to be
Completely disassemble gun
Strip and sand blast parts and frame
Use a flat block of steel or granite plate and tape a piece of sandpaper to it. Lay the frame on it. Sand it straight in one direction (at least the last few passes). Repeat with the slide.
Finish is probably around 320/400 grit.
You will need to be careful not to roll the frame or sides when sanding so the edges stay as crisp as possible. The graining portion would probably go quickly. Masking and cleaning will take some time.
