Chime in!! G30 / G30s VS. M&P 45C

No experience with the glocks , but I recently purchase a 45c for HD and winter carry and I love it.
I was considering the glock also due to a the +2 capacity but the 30 I checked out seemed as thick as a brick and I just can't pay the MA price on them.
I'm planning to get some full size m&p 45 mags with the xgrip at some point

I have no experience with the mp 45 compact but have a 21, 30 and a full sized mp 45. The 30 is easily the most accurate of the three in my hands. I shoot the 30 pretty good. In defense of the full size pistols, they shoot nice also but the 30 edges them both out.

G30sf here. I shoot it well and recoil is easy. Tried to carry but the thickness really is annoying. Went with 1911sc E series for carry for now. I'll switch off during the winter.

G30 & G21 here, too. G30 with 10+1, and 13-round G21 backup mag is no problem for carry in the cooler months, and shoots very well. Never shot any M&P, probably never will as there is no need for it (for me, that is).

I have owned both.

The g30 is nice but get either an SF or gen 4 model or else the grip is retarded large.

the M&P 45c is a gem....shoots great. 4" barrel is perfect size. I am a big fan....also the 45c mags are great. The 9c/40c blows in comparison.

honestly i think a G30 or 45c would be good choice....i like em both.

i havent fired a Kahr 45 but those look awesome too.

The only good 45 is a 1911. Sorry, it's required to say this in every 45 thread. [laugh]

If you end up going Glock, get the g30s. The slide is about the same thickness as a g19, unlike the regular g30 which reminds me of a hi-point. ha, ha. The g30s is built on the SF frame, so it's a bit easier to grip. Finally, I prefer the smooth trigger, so I swapped that out.

Good luck.

I've owned both and this is pretty much my feeling too. Both are great guns. I had a 30SF, sold, then bought a 45c, then sold it for a 30 Gen 4. I do like the 30 Gen 4 the best, and you get 10+1 rounds in the Glock, the finish is better on the glock for wear as well. Plus you only get 8+1 in the M&P. All else being equal I'll give the nod to the Glock. The 30 is a very accurate shooter for me as well.

They carry very much the same.....

I'm not a huge fan of the 30S because I like the gen 4 frame and mag release and the grip is similar size than a 30S.

I never understood the 30s. Who cares if the slide is narrow. The grip is still fat as hell so I would think it negates the slim slide.

Maybe I am wrong. I used to have a 36 and I loved it. You get less rounds but its easier to conceal than a 30 or MP45c

interesting, I actually like the larger grips in the G30 and I'm not a big guy. Wouldnt do it for IWB but for OWB carry in the woods or the range it's perfect. Hear nothing but good things about the m&p45 thigh.

I have both the G30 Gen 3 and M&P 9c.

I hate to admit it, but I like the M&P more. I would give serious consideration to the M&P 45c...

I have a Gen 2.5 G30 and had a M&P9c
Prefer the G30, better trigger, smoother shooting even in .45, more accurate, better slide finish(my M&P9c was pitting after 1 year of ownership, the Glock's finish is near perfect even being over a decade old.)

Always the m&p... I much prefer the feel of the grip of a m&p over a glock. Personal preference though... A few days at BEC and the trigger (weak point of S&W) is corrected. This is all personal preference though. Both are reliable work horses, which feels better to you?

I like the ergo of the M&P45 a bit better, but it's too flippy for my taste, the G30 (I like the S version) handles recoil better. The M&P trigger out of the box makes me want to hit myself in the face with a claw hammer, it's so bad. Trigger upgrade might as well be considered part of the purchase. Out of the two, I'd take the G30S, but not by much if the other was fixed up right.

Yup! G30 gen 4, g30S ( going to sell it and wait for gen 4, i shoot lefty) and i had a mp45c.... The jury is still out...... BUT, i shot a p227 the other day..... Niiiice!

I didn't think the Kahr 45 was Mass compliant?

Are the Kahrs & M&Ps the only striker fired guns with external safeties?

Kahr P45 is on the list. Its quite different from the M&P or glock. Ive never shot a Kahr 45 but given my love for all Kahr 9's or .380's I would imagine the .45 is pretty sweet.

the external safety on the M&P 45c is optional, as it is on a Kahr as well. My M&P 45c has no external safety thank God. Its probably the only M&P i like enough to never sell.

Is the glock and M&P the same size. I know what the specs say but I was thinking real world comparison

I checked out a G30 before getting the 45c. I think the G30 seemed much bulkier especially wider. The 45c is closer in size to a G19

I just picked up a gen 2.5 G30, I don't mind the grip at all, have a G21 also, which I also like the grip on. Great gun, super accurate and a joy to shoot. And 10+1 @45ACP.

I've had a g30 and have a g30s now. Loved the g30, but for me, the g30s is much nicer due to the slimmer frame and slide. And as others have said, both the 30 and the 30s are incredibly accurate.
