Recently encountered a Cimarron Frontier SAA. Half cock would line the cylinder up for use with the ejection rod like normal. Weird thing was, if I left the loading gate open, it stayed ready for that ejection rod and the cylinder not lined up with the barrel, for any cocking of the hammer. Only once the gate was closed would the cylinder turn properly and the rounds, cylinder, barrel all line up.
Checked the real thing and the half cock does indeed line the cylinder up for shell ejection. Cock the hammer to full cock and she's ready to fire, regardless of the position of the loading gate. Checked this on an 1882 SAA and a 2007 SAA, no problem. Loading gate should not have any mechanical connection with the hammer, the sear or any of the other bits and pieces. The "loading position" is decided by the half cock of the hammer (c-O-l-t).
Pietta doing something different in Italy or did I just have a weird revolver? Didn't drop the coin because I thought something was not right.
Any cowboy action shooters out there???
Thanks!
Gary
P.S.- Anyone loving or hating their Italian clone?
