Just heard from a friend who is currently at Camp Perry. For those of you who have tapped into the Civilian Marksmanship Program sales, they have put sales to Massachusetts and even to Massachusetts residents in their stores on pause until they figure out the new laws. Hopefully they will figure out quickly that the 60 to 100 year old milsurp M1's and bolt actions they sell are not affected by any of this nonsense. If anyone has ordered a M1 Garand from CMP, you could be facing a delay. FYI and hopefully they'll have this resolved asap- possibly even today.

Ugh. Glad I got my Garands when I did. What a cluster. Though I'm betting they will stop ammo sales as well. I buy from them from time to time when they get a rare shipment of some good Garand or Carbine fodder.

I also think it could affect ammo sales. Every once in a while I'll stock up on Creedmore .30-06, which is made from Lapua components and I think VV powder. The Lapua brass is of high quality and lasts much, much longer than Lake City or Hornady. Would really suck if I can't order that from CMP in the future. Of course my future in MA is limited to around 2 years, give or take and I have plenty of components and powder to keep me supplied that long and well beyond.

I think it’s definitely going to affect ammo sales

So dumpster grade will be the rifle type of the day when it finally arrives?

They are pretty random as far as what they ship. I once received a M1 that was likely a Turkish return. Supposed to be a field grade but was below your average rack grade and was in one of the hackberry stocks that everyone HATED. It was a total pizzashit as far as Garand quality goes, but that time all I wanted was an organ donor so no big deal to me.

Another time they sent me an O-66 USMC rebuilt that had been stored since the Marines reworked it. I requested and received the FOIA on it- it had been stored in a couple different arsenals for many decades. It is likely one of the earliest USMC M1's with one of the lowest serial numbers the Marines would have received. Also it does not have the 7th round mod. It's a tackdriver too. That's pretty much hitting the lottery for the various service rebuilds out there. I later saw a much higher serial number O-66 with no distinguishing features get big bucks on their auction site.

The Danish returns from last year were really nice. Pretty much Forrest Gump's box of chocolates- you never know what your gonna get from CMP. Moot point if they can't resume selling to Mass residents. We already missed out on a few rounds of USGI M1911's cuz no pistols to Maura's fiefdom.

not only that but i do those things wearing camo crocs and short cargo pants.

Are garands really affected by the new law? I was planning to put one in the classifieds tomorrow. Along with an SKS.

Nope no detachable clip, only 8 rounds
We wont know whats allowed as they have not creates the new roster
Remember the new law makes everything a . Firearm now and the committee they are creating will dictate will be on the new roster

What I see being the problem is the New Transportation Laws i dont think Common Carries are exempt
So ups Fedex and everyone will just say NO to MA delivery.

Some pants-shitters say the state thinks its handguard is actually a barrel shroud, though.

Hawk tuah and post that thang, @slap shot

If they're serious about this bullshit, they'll come arrest you and we'll all have our answer. If not? You sell and everyone's happy.

For the dealers that dont comply the state will just pull their license.
these new laws are designed to make it very difficult and expensive to own sell guns

If dealers are running on thin margins now god bless them in a few months.

No question: dealers get hit hardest by this law.

At best we can Assume its all new sales by MA dealers not used guns?
Its a mess and they wrote it that way.

But do we really know what the deal is? It s information from a friend at Camp Perry who talked to who know who.

Not that I am disparaging @Mountain or discounting the truth of what was said, but do we have anything official from CMP?

Bob.

I’m in NH but no one up here seems to buy guns 😝 usually meeting a mass dude near the border.
