CMP offering FG Garands...

I ordered a couple so long ago I forget when I ordered them.. maybe 3 months ago... Should be coming soon, I'll give a full report when I get them.
I'm in the same boat. I figure at some point, a service grade will just show up on my doorstep and I will have to see the charge on the CC.

Seen 4 recent FG s all SA . Great rifles for $650
Barrels can be a little rough. Stocks will be "loose" . You wont find a better M1 for $650 if your lucky these will sell for $1200 in a shop.
They also can make a good base for a new barrel and stock set.

If you send in your paper work today you should expect your order to come march 2022.

Regarding CMP FG Garands, seems they flipped to sold out on 11/3. There are a couple CMP threads. So, if this has been posted somewhere else, oops.

I’ve bought a couple field grades and always been pleasantly surprised.

I see that the special grade is still available for $750 seems like a good deal for a rifle with a new barrel and well worth the paperwork and effort to have a M1 delivered to your door.

Thats fine , now forget you paid for them and they feel free by the time they arrive

I think I did good. 2/3 I'd consider better than described. First is the HRA. Great shape. All HRA so far except stock and bolt.

Any pitting on receiver? Usually it will be a very minor cosmetic issue that really doesn't bother me- I'm only asking because I can't figure out how your rifle is a field grade and not a service grade.

You did very well! Give it the once-over and lube, then shoot it. Don't forget there is a Winter Warrior postal match for iron sight milsurp rifles.

Receivers are in great shape on those two. The third one is rougher but neat

Last one is a Springfield..my lowest SN yet. Initially I saw no cartouches because I was looking below the receiver. This has a faint SA cartouche closer to the butt. This one is really dirty. I plan to give the entire rifle a good clean and oil.

LOL it's a mystery how they grade. You should see the pits on my FG. Granted, they were full of crud / rust / old blood? and it looked smooth until it was stripped and re-parked. Probably should have been a rack grade but no matter- it was an organ donor for a match build and now drives tacks. I need to post a close-up sometime so people can see.

That one you posted IMHO would normally be considered one of the better service grades.

That one is what I would consider a solid FG. You can probably steam out a lot of those dings in the stock if you are so inclined.
