Chicopee Sportsmens Club will be hosting several M1 Rifle Clinics and Matches in 2025.

See the attached flyer for details. Chicopee Sportsmens Club is home to some of the best M1 shooters in the country - several of whom own national records. This is the place for learning how to shoot wood guns. Additionally, participation in a sanctioned clinic satisfies one of the major requirements for purchasing vintage rifles from the Civilian Marksmanship Program.

The clinics are intended for new shooters - particularly those who have never shot an M1 rifle or participated in a CMP Games match before. We'd really like to get some new faces into our sport, so if you know someone who might be interested, spread the word. It's also a great connection to those interested in WWII history. Clinic participants don't have to own an M1 to participate in the clinic, a club rifle and ammo is included in the clinic price.

A 35-shot "A-Course" CMP Games match at 200 yards will follow the clinic. If you have an as-issued M1 and ammo, and you just want to shoot the match, great. We'd also appreciate the help with newbies.

If you have experience in CMP Games matches, and would like to shoot a Vintage Rifle (military bolt gun), a M1903 Springfield, or Modern Military (M1A, AR, etc), you're welcome to shoot those as well. Come shoot your HP service rifle in the Unlimited Modern Military class. In fact, come shoot any rifle you'd like. Gold, Silver, and Bronze award pins will be given for each of the four classes (As-Issued M1 Rifle, M1903 Springfield, Vintage Rifle, and Modern Military). For now, there will only be one match per day - so pick one rifle. These are official CMP-sanctioned matches, so for those with CMP Competitor Numbers, your results will be logged in your CT Tracker account along with your other competitions.

The first M1 Clinic/Match will be held at CSC in three weeks - May 3. Hopefully there won't be snow on the ground. But the match will proceed rain or shine.

Pre-registration is mandatory for the Clinic to reserve a rifle - right now we have 8 available. I already have some signed up for the May 3 Clinic. Notification to this email is encouraged if you'd just like to shoot the match. We'll try and get as many relays as needed to get everyone through.

We will be shooting on CSC's new Shotmarker electronic targets. The targets work over wifi, so any device with Wifi capability can be used as a monitor to see shots and results.

If you have questions, please let me know. If you'd like to reserve a spot in the clinic on any of the four dates, let me know as well. Again, first come, first served on the clinic/rifle spots.

Here's hoping this is going to be a great event that will keep growing the shooting sports community!

Thanks very much!

For what it's worth, Reading Rifle & Revolver has registered the CMP M1 Mass. State Championships on October 25, 2025.

Chicopee Sportsmens took first, second, and third place at Reading last year, and we're going to do it again this year.

I need to get out there just for the fun
I have been seeing Brian Williams name on the top off cmp results for years and just love seeing MA
Its actually nice seeing so many MA shooters doing well.

Get out here soon, then. CMP snatched Brian up, and he'll be in Port Clinton permanently after Nationals this summer.

But I agree with you - Massachusetts and New England have a long, long tradition of producing excellent shooters. It is great when our guys do well. It's my goal to have Mass take the NTIT team trophy again one day. Massachusetts dominated in the 1880s, and I want it back!
