Here's my effort at resurrecting an oldie but a goodie:

This is the Colt Agent that was in the classifieds last month for very short money. When I went to pick it up, I found out WHY it was so cheap! The gun's bluing had almost completely worn away, and there were deep pits and scratches on most of the edges. Unfortunately, I didn't take a before picture, but here's the "after" pic. About 6 hours at my buddies' jewelry shop with a ton of professional polishing equipment resulted in this:

It's a bit of an oddity, given that Colt Agents were never manufactured in stainless/chrome. The originals (like this one) were blued with the pencil barrel and smaller front sight. The later ones were parkerized with a barrel shroud for the ejection rod and a longer blade-style front sight.

There's still a little bit of pitting on the cylinder, as these guns were alloy and the castings weren't the greatest. But it looks a miilion times better, and for our first polish job, we think it came out great!

Thanks for looking!

my goodness, that's a nice looking pistol!

like many others, I was too late to get in on that deal (and it was a deal, scratches or no!).

That's glorious. LOVE the grips too. This makes me miss my Colt Detective Special I sold last year. It was a sweet gun.

Like you, sold mine in 1995, still having nightmares.[crying]

And what a beautiful job on the Colt Agent, EXCELLENT.

That looks awesome! One thing I don't get:

What's it made of? What kind of alloy gets pits?

If that isn't a stainless gun I'd keep it VERY oiled or it will corrode away! Very polished, I like! It pretty much looks like a chrome job.

Looks awesome, nice job on the refinish. Nothing more satisfying than taking something that looks like hell froze over and making it new again.....with your own two hands.

Thanks very much for the kind words all. Stay tuned, as we're going to polish one of my HK P7s tonight, and this time I'll have detailed before and after pics!
