My boss owns a Colt .25 pistol, and he asked me to help him find out some info on it, but I'm having trouble with some of it.

This is the gun (poor quality pics, I know).

When I first looked in Google, I found this gun on Gunbroker (http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=114968284#PIC) that seems to be the same thing, only in worse condition.

I've done some looking, but I can't find a reference for determining the date of production based on the serial number.

My boss bought this gun brand new sometime in the 1970's and almost never shot it. I'm no Colt expert by any means, but it looks almost brand new, with only a spot of rust on one of the grip screws and another tiny light rust spot on the front sight.

This gun has been in Mass. since it was purchased, and it's lawfully owned and all that jazz.

Here's the questions that he has that I need your help answering:

How old is the gun? How do I find out? A website or something would be very helpful, but maybe me skills with Google just aren't as good as I thought. He isn't sure when it was made, or even exactly when he bought it.

Is there any way to find out the history of the gun, like how many were made, what's unique or special about them, anything like that?

What is the gun worth? The gun could legally be transferred to any other Mass. resident, he said he doesn't know if he'd want to sell it, but this kind of gun isn't one I know much about. The one on Gunbroker apparently sold for $306, but would this be worth more in the People's Republic of Massachusetts?

Any help you could give me would be much appreciated.

The Junior is basically an Astra "Cub." Early versions used a US made frame and Astra parts.

Manufactured by Astra in Spain for Colt 1958-68 - Colt "Junior" Pocket Models were made by Astra Firearms in Spain (Under Colt Contract) in 1958-68

Manufactured by Firearms International for Colt 1970-73 - Made in Spain under contract with Colt Manufacturing, and distributed by FIE in Miami,Florida between 1970-1973. They were only made by FIE in 1971.

It is a contract handgun and not actually made by Colt.
They were never produced anywhere else.

Thanks for the info, I went to coltautos.com but found it confusing as heck over there.

If you (or your boss) elect to shoot this thing, be very careful that you don't have thumbs (or any other appendage) in the way of the cycling slide. The grip on .25 autos is so small that it is not hard to end up bloody.

Looks like a 1973 ,manufacture, based on what looks like a serial # of OD10XXXX
