My brother (not in MA) has one of these and he is thinking about selling it. He is trying to figure out the value of it. Has anybody seen one recently in a store or online. His is 95-97% for sure with 3 mags no box.

I take it it's .38 Super? Not sure about demand here in MA, but I know it used to be a popular IDPA caliber. Posting pictures will get better responses.

In bullseye they used to use 38 special 1911s. They could only fire full wadcutters from finicky magazines. I tried one and it was very soft shooting and accurate. Might be tough to find a buyer.

Well now, let's not get too hasty... I'll offer $99.95 sight unseen.[wink]

Remember, too, that if it's a non-C&R Colt, it might be difficult to transfer into MA.

ETA: from what I'm finding, it might just be C&R after all. Plus, these used to sell for a premium and there apparently weren't too many made. Interesting piece!

If it is a Colt mid range, then it is a 38 special, not Super. It is a specialized bullseye pistol. Full wad cutter only like Bill said.

Thanks All. The firearm is not in MA. The research that we have done online shows the pricing ranging from 1600 to 2200. However, these were all older threads and we can't find anything recent. There were about 7000 of these made from 61 to 71. So it is a bit rare.

I sold my Colts mid-range last year. I can't remember what the final sale price was but it was on the lower end of that price range. While they are not very çommon, there just doesn't seem to be much demand for them.

to the right buyer, they get $1200-1400 based on condition and number of Colt .38 special mags. They made more than you think. The S&W Model 52 was more popular and had better function. Let's see some photos.

Greg the pistol is my brothers and in Texas so I don't have pics. My brother was heavy into bullseye shooting and has this Colt as well as a 52. At this stage in his life he is just trying to figure out what things are worth. The truth of the matter is he may change his mind about selling his "Children".
