compensator on commander size 1911

Is it a 45ACP? You don't see quite the gains from most 45ACP comps that do you on guns with higher pressure rounds. That being said, hanging a chunk of metal off the front of ANY gun is going to reduce muzzle flip, regardless of the efficacy of gas porting.

Most comps I've seen for the 1911 that you can install yourself generally don't seem to be 'worth it', which is pretty subjective. That being said, if you want one, chuck it on and see. Enjoy the ride either way!

1) No need. A 45 ACP Commander doesn't have much recoil or muzzle rise, so what's the point?

2) Not very useful.

3) Too much muzzle blast.

Compensators work really well on very gassy, high speed loads. On a 45 ACP? Not as much. Think a USPSA open gun in 9mm major.

Thanks that guy.
In God we trust, Gotta say you're a dick.
But I appreciate your sense of humor!
I've been given many "sensitivity " lessons in my life. None of them were recoil related.
I was just asking if anyone found any real merit in them.

Kinda dumb on a 1911, frankly, unless you're building up a gun for a special purpose. Even then most .45 loads are often not optimized to really work a compensator properly.
