I have an FN FNC, and finding spare parts for these beauties has become extremely difficult. Some people I know have found a company that is willing to manufacture a variety of spare parts, such as firing pins, etc. So far so good. We'd love to find a company that would be willing to manufacturer FNC bolts and bolt carriers. I assume the process and materials must be similar to making bolts and bolt carriers for AR15s.

Does anyone here know a company that custom manufacturers AR15 bolts and colt carriers, or maybe is a manufacturer of specialized AR15 bolts and bolt carriers?

Can you post pictures?

If you can figure out what there made from hardness. You best bet is to go to a small machine shop and ask them to make the parts. If you can find prints that be great for the shop. other wise youll habe to find a shop willing to measure and make there own .

The problem with this is for the cost of it you'd be better off getting 10-20 made to get the cost per lower. Kinda like get a group buy .

The machine shop my work send stuff that I'm not able to do(ie don't have Cnc) or don't have the time charges 50$ per a op plus x amount per hour for small stuff or he charges 50$ a op plus x amount per part...

Or you could join makeit lab in nh and have some one teach you to run the mills etc ...

there are some dudes on cnczone doing gun work that *might* wanna help out. only problem is to find those folks. cnczone is not exactly NES
either way it's better place to get some leads, get in touch with some shop supervisors, owners.
worst case scenario you'll get a reference that you can then follow up upon.

but prepare for paying some serious cash for this. shop prices range anywhere from 50/hour and up to $300+ depending on the place and type of work they can do.

do post pics, i'm curious to see how complex that stuff is, for all you know some small time home machinist can do it for far less than a lot of shops.

that's a lot more like an AK bolt than AR. pretty much AK rip-off.
it can be done by someone who has lathe/mill combo. although it would be tough to machine that cam-lug w/o CNC.
also add a bunch of cash for design and cnc programming.
4140 should do just fine for the bolt. it will require heat-treating after machining is done though otherwise pre-hard 4140 is tough to machine.

This is encouraging. Do you know anyone specifically who you think might be worth talking to about this? I know a whole bunch of FNC owners who would be interested in getting in on something like this. You can PM me if you don't want to post contact info in the general forum.

Contact Ratworx, they do stuff like this and if you can get enough people who want one, they may be interested.
