My son bought this rifle earlier this month and has disassembled it for inspection and cleaning. He found a very tiny crack in the wood below where the rear of the receiver rests. It does not go all the way to the other side, just about 3/4s of the way down.
He is also wondering about the purpose of this screw. It "looks" like it might have been placed there to prevent this crack from spreading.
Any comments, ideas?
