If you" went through an FFL", I presume it was a transfer through the Dealer's Bound Book. That makes the FFL the seller, not the person that had the gun before.

FFL should have that record.

nah, this was 100% a panic post for sure, seller couldn't have been better. I just didnt do my part to make sure I had the paperwork I wanted before I left. That would have been on me still if he didn't get back to me.
