Ok, I was at the range with my Son the other day, and a rifle caught my eye on the rack. Someone had consigned it, and I was able to talk them down on price a bit.

Needless to say, I brought it home to be kept company by my other unusual .22's.

The rifle is a Deutsche Werke Model II. It has a unique knob which you pull back and lift up in order to expose the breech. It also ejects using the same process.

It was made in there Erfurt factory in Germany. I was able to gain a little info on it via google, but not much.

Anyone know anything about these? I know that they made the ortgies pistols later on.

The pic I posted was one I found online, but it looks just like mine.

Hi Speedway,

I just won a Model 1 at an auction. Don't have it in my hands yet. My stock doesn't look as nice as yours. More of a slab. Since it's been 2 years now since you got the gun and posted the thread, what can you tell me about this pea shooter? I have a couple Remington Model 6's. It looks to me that this is a very similar type of rifle; designed for a youth or the boy scouts. My dad told me he learned to shoot on a single shot Model 6 back in the late 20's. Hope you're enjoying it. I have had good luck with my Ortgies pistols, hope this 22 is just as good. Semper Fi
