Deval says no to trooper pact.

Well it wouldn't go right with giving the illegals drivers licenses and instate tuition would it...
"Screwed"??? We're gonna be doing all the pumping while he's doing all the cu^^ing!

I can't wrap my head around this. This makes no sense, the troopers are not looking for people to process under the new policy, but rather immigrants found during their normal duties. Our state isn't evening paying for this! How could he run on a platform about adding more officers and giving officers more tools to do their jobs and pull this act before he is even in office? Boggles the mind.

"If I have that power... ...I do believe I have that power."

So he doesn't even know IF he can, but he says he will !

Can this guy be impeached or somehow lawfully removed from office for abuse of power ?

His head's getting bigger every day. Yeesh. [hmmm]

Let me get this straight - MA State troopers already have enough work to do without having to enforce US laws on immigration? Does this also mean that they are also too busy to enforce other US goverment laws as well? Could somebody please tell me if the speed limits on the interstates are MA state laws - or federal laws? What interstate trafficking of firearms - Federal or state? If the troopers are "too busy" to enforce US immigration laws then why don't we lighten up their load and stop having them enforce any and all Federal laws and only concentrate on MA state laws.

He's a politically correct, authoritarian leftist. The mere existence of this policy offends him and thus he will abuse his power as governor the first chance he gets to get rid of it.

And there, ladies and gentlemen, is the bottom line. [angry]

I want to puke... I can understand the Deval is what he is.. but the fact that he won so handily is what really make me sick.

State law

Federal law

If I remember correctly though the Feds manipulated the states into enforcing the 55mph speed limit (back when there was one nationwide) by threatening to withhold federal highway funds - which although the actual letter of the law might be a state thing - it was in essence a federal law.

The federal gov. controls many state laws this exact way every day.

Devil "BOHICA" Patrick will save you all from yourselves!!!!

What percentage of Mass. residents do you think really care or are even concerned with what Devall is or does. Excepting the good people on this forum, it appears that thee aren't many. It seems like they are just too busy in self interest to think anything he does will have any real affect on them. Maybe when half their income goes to the taxmen, they may sit up and notice; but I doubt it.Sad.

A run-in with a MA voter before the election:

I was waiting in line, like a good comrade,to buy ferry tickets and this woman tried to strike up a conversation starting with " I see I'm the only one with a Deval sticker on my car".She just had to mention that Republicans really screwed this state up since they took over.In the next 4 minutes of a verbal beatdown I gleaned from her that she: moved here in _1992_,has not voted in the prior 2 elections, confused Healey with Jane Swift, isn't exactly sure what any Republicans have done but they've hurt the economy, taken away civil rights, hate homeless and "sick" people and that Healey-Swift person is in Bush's back pocket and responsible for Iraq.

She's not atypical.

I agree - she isn't atypical. And in a previous life I might have just nodded my head and tried to avoid hashing it out with her. However in the last year or so - since I decided to get my gun license, and since I really started reading up on this stuff - I have decided that just agreeing with people like that doesn't really help. It only makes them think that other people agree with them. Unlike her I have lived here my entire 42 years - and in my opinion it is the Democrats that have really screwed things up.

You should have called her on her ignorance - and your response should have started with "lady you have no idea what you are talking about"

I'm gonna throw a different twist into this discussion...........I think this socialist moron is gonna screw things up so badly, he'll lose all credibility with voters (even Liberal voters) and let the conservatives be seen in a better light. But, don't get me wrong. I see turbulent times ahead......VERY turbulent. It is our job to ride his ass like a shitty diaper every step of the way so that years will pass before there's any serious thought of putting another Democrat in the corner office.

Everything will be just fine.......................................

No problems at all....................................

Deval will be a GREAT governor!.....................................

We already had a shitty democrat gov that did his damage
tour.. Mike Dukakis... and we all know how well that worked out.

So, that means after Deval gets pushed off in x number of years, that
the state will go back to electing a shitty RINO to replace him, and then
another 5 or so years will pass and the dems will be back
again. (If the voting block didnt learn the first time around with the
duke, why are they going to start now?)

The fundamental problem here is that the leftist moonbat population is
growing in this state, not decreasing. Conservatives and libertarians
and even more conservative oriented democrats are leaving this state
in droves. This means that the left-moonbats gain even more power as
a result, because their voting block is rapidly turning into a block of
crap.

No way. What'll happen, with Deval's administration, and at the national level with the Dems in the majority, is that they now have free reign to screw up as they please and do all the things they're known for, only even more intensely. They'll say in a very short time, when their competence is questioned, that they are simply tangled in the quagmire that the Right, moderates, and especially Bush left them with. They'll say that huge amounts of damage was done, and the only solution is to keep them in power for the decades it will take to clean up the mess. They won't be responsible for the results they give over the next few years, and any other stretch of time they can get away with. Their only aim, and the Republicans too (sorry, but I'm a Libertarian) is to stay in power.

He can do whatever he wants as he was elected by 21 points and has a mandate from the voters to engage in whatever dumbass crap he wants to do. [wink]

I predict he is reelected in four years by a 40 point margin. And so it goes in Taxachusetts. [rolleyes] [laugh]

He won by the margin he did because there is no alternative party in
Massachusetts and/or no credible alternative candidate. Do you think
that the Repubs are an alternative that would erode the Moonbat vote?
Hardly, as they are almost as bad most of the time and definitely as bad
a lot of the time. Kerry Healy was a joke as a Lt. Governor, more so as
a candidate. The Repubs as a party are living on the edge of extinction
in Mass and nationally have moved so far to the left it is hard to recognize
the party of RR anymore.

Exactly - which is why we need another political party in this country. The Rebublicans have blown it by alienating the true libertarian/conservative part of the party - sooner or later that voting block is going to settle somewhere - if we are lucky it will be in some sort of libertarian leaning - conservative party. There is currently a lot of crap going on in the libertarian camp because the idealogues within the movement disagree with the way the libertarian party has changed it's focus - apparently there are those within the party who feel it is time to stop screwing around and time to actually start getting people elected. I understand the point of the purists - but standing around preaching morality while Rome burns isn't exactly helping us out as a country either.
