I'm considering buying a Savage Axis rifle in .223. On their website they list the Axis .223 with a stainless barrel and a Axis .223 XP with a stainless barrel. I checked all the specs and except for the XP model weighing 7 pounds and the non-XP model weighing 6.5 pounds I can't find any differences. The pictures of the 2 rifles look exactly the same. If the XP model had a bull barrel I would expect the pictures to look different and I think the weight difference would be more than a half pound. Does anybody know what the difference between the regular model and the XP model is?
I would e-mail them and ask but they say they don't respond to e-mail questions. I would call them but they are closed by the time I get home from work and calling from work and asking questions about guns is not an option.
