I was just wondering for those of you that have had or curruntly have a M&P 9c have they been reliable? Also, does anyone have more than 5k rounds down range with one of these guns? I appeciate your help. Trying to find a new carry gun.

I have one, less than 5k about 1k down range, no issues, misfeeds or jams. Great gun, my primary carry.

7K + through mine. love it. after about 5K i replaced the extractor with APEX FRE extractor. Recently my ambi safety broke, so i replaced that, otherwise no issues AT ALL. before APEX offered all of their goodies i had S&W perform their Action Pistol Package job and i love the trigger. great gun reliable as hell. my EDC for years. disappears in an IWB even with just a t-shirt atleast for me. also APEX tactical has a ton of different options for the trigger and is currently working on a match grade barrel for it. highly recommend it.

I have one. 3K rounds with 0 failures. It's also eaten everything I've put in it from Brown bear 115 gr FMJ to Federal HST 147 gr +p JHP.

Fewer than 5K rounds through mine, but it's been 100% reliable. I originally bought it with the thought that my daughter could use it as a carry gun if she got her LTC, but she hasn't so it's one of my carry pieces until she does.

I also have one and enjoy it very much. Getting close to 1000 rounds with zero issues. Great size/weight/ergo to carry and to shoot. Accurate, too. I much prefer the mag with the thumb rest base. The finish has also held up well to being holstered.

Two issues: Need to get the APEX trigger kit to shoot it really well, and I had to grind down the followers in order to get 10 rounds into the mag (and then into the gun) without absolutely forcing the mag to click into place http://www.northeastshooters.com/vbulletin/threads/124192-How-to-video-on-modifying-M-amp-P-magazine-followers?highlight=follower

got mine slightly used not sure how many rounds thru it and i put about 1k myself with no issues what so ever.. very reliable and accurate easy to disassemble and clean and small enough for concealed carry, also i reccomend the pinky rest baseplate for bigger hands which i manly use at the range and regular mag for carry

I have about 2k through mine, mostly cheapo FMJ, no issues at all. It's a snap to clean and very comfortable to carry even for a guy my size, (5'6 140 lbs). The ergonomics are outstanding and the heavy trigger was solved with a $70 trip to Business End Customs Mine came with 1 mag w/pinky extender so I called Smith and they sent out 2 more extension pieces for Free. All in all I'm pretty happy

I've tried a bunch of brands, I finally gave up buying JHP. It just doesn't want to feed correctly. I think it has to do with the blunt nose of the hollow points, they get stuck feeding in, and the slide closes and jams them up. On occasion when it does feed, I can feel the slide hit the case before it loads.
Feed ramp issues? Who knows...

Other than that, it's a great gun.

I made the mistake of buying one of the earlier models. I got one of the first ones from Collector's. I had so many FTF and FTE, even the magazines failed to function properly. I tried 7 different magazines sent by S&W, none would work properly. I finally gave up. I know many people swear by these pistols but I would never trust my life to a S&W M&P pistol. I decided to buy a Glock 26, which I should have bought in the first place if I wasn't so cheap. Hey ! You always get what you pay for.

Thanks for all the replies.

The one I purchased is an 08' model. I have heard that 08's have had issues. Any truth to that?

Either try polishing the feed ramp yourself or call S&W and talk with their customer service folks. I'm sure that they will fix the problem if you bring it to their attention . . . and they will pay shipping both ways if you ask them.

great guns in both 9 and .40
IMO, these are on par with glocks @ better price and superb customer service from S&W.
+1 on all the positives people have said:
- feeds on anything
- no FTE, FTF, FTxxx
- they look better than glocks too IMO

:)

Since I had a trig job I love my FS 9. I have somewhere between 500 - 1000 rnds with never even a hint of an issue.

I have a couple thousand rounds of FMJ and JHP through mine, functions flawlessly and I would absolutely trust my life to it. I find it a tad bulky to carry, but IMO its worth it because I can shoot ot accurately, and it is a lot of fun at the range. The gun has a Larocca trigger job and a crimson trace laser.

I have one and like it, between 2 and 3k rounds downrange without any issues jhp or fmj. The only annoyance I had was with the new 9mm mags I needed to trim the followers a little to fit 10 rounds in them

Bought my 9c in April. Have 2000k+ down range. 40% FMJ reloads, 40% cheap UMC's, 20% JHP (both 124gr and 147gr...prefer the 124gr). No misfeeds, no FTF, no problems. Shoots well @ 25 yards after trigger job, although my wife still has a hard time with this gun for some reason. She adapts quickly and does extremely well with 1911's, Hi Powers etc. but just hasn't really gotten the hang of this one yet. Thinking of getting a FS 9 or .40 now. And from what I hear S&W Customer Service is working extremely hard at making any and all issues with the M&P right! It is my daily carry. Exceeded my expectations.

+1 for the 40c w/ trigger job.

Pretty much have to agree with all that has been said here.

For me, more than 1k rounds and 0 issues.

Absoluelty love mine. [smile] The ergonomics of this gun are perfect. You won't regret owning this weapon.

And honestly, don't worry about a trigger job. Reading everyone parroting each-other about NEEDING to get trigger job may make you second guess a purchase. The M&P 9c has a fine trigger. No it isn't a target competition 2 pound trigger, but the mass complaint trigger is perfectly fine for us normal humans.

Besides, If this is a carry gun, you shouldn't be messing around with that trigger anyways. Leave it as it came from the factory. You're just opening yourself up to trouble.

Sorry, but I disagree. Maybe some of the MA triggers are okay, but by and large, the concensus is that they suck. I measured my 9c at 15lbs before getting the Apex kit installed by Remsport. In addition to being very heavy, the pull was very rough and gritty rather than smooth. I could still hit the target with it, but it was no fun at all. Now, with Apex, I'm at around 6-7lbs and it's nice and smooth.

In terms of opening yourself up to trouble, if you're in a situation where you need your concealed weapon, then you better be sure you can hit your target. In my opinion, getting the trigger job done makes this much easier to do as well as more likely to increase a person's training time with the gun (won't be as painful or frustrating to shoot).

Agreed, if you have to use your gun, life as you know it is over! Whether you worked on your trigger is gonna be small potatoes.
