Right now I've got Dr. Phil on in the background (why, I don't know), and he's got on the mother of the kid from the Omaha Mall spree, who took out 8 people and himself with an AK-47 that he took from his step-father's unsecured closet.

He just had on one of the vics who got shot but survived, and predictably, through teary eyes he implored the mother to support him calling for the reenactment of the AWB.

Great. Freakin' great.

I guess who I'm really mad at is the retard who left his AK and ammo unsecured in a place where a screwed-up teenager could easily get his hands on it.

It's real hard to make a rational argument against gun control when crap like this happens.

Dr Phil is a fraud...

Dr. Steve

gun control wouldn't have stopped this...

Having the Mall NOT be a "gun free zone" .
.and possibly having some citizens with LTC being in the right place, at the right time MIGHT have helped reduce the carnage...

...or even might have made the shooter decide it was too risky to attempt in the first place...

Remember...Ophrah, Dr. Phil, Obama....have an agenda...

If there had been more armed individuals (citizens) at the mall then maybe the death toll for the day could have only been one. The shooter.

Eddie Coyle is right, I move we ask our legislators to make it illegal to shoot somone, and to make it double dog dare you illegal to kill someone.

Oh I know, Dr. Phil = root canal, but the point is, he wouldn't have been able to make this episode if the event hadn't happened.

I agree, a CCW holder in the right place at the right time may have been able to reduce the carnage, but even if Joe Heavy had stopped him after "only" one or two vics, I don't think it would have changed the tone of the media attention all that much.

Stuff like this is why we have the creeping infringement on the 2nd.

******
Why would you watch that crap?

By that logic, they should just make it illegal to shoot people.

Exactly.

Did you shoot the people at the mall? If the answer is no, then why should you lose a right to keep and bear arms?

not to be callous but the murdering coward who shot people at the mall has nothing to do with us. If he hit a bus full of nuns with his car we would not be hearing from that douche "dr' Phil.

You had a television on with Dr. Phil on it for more than 5 seconds and somehow resisted the urge to shoot your television set? [laugh]

Usually even if I "brush" by that show while clicking around I'll usually swear at the TV on the way by, so to speak.

Would you be mad at yourself if someone stole a baseball bat from your open garage and beat the old Lady down the street to death? Do you really think there is anything someone can't get ahold if they are willing to go the distance?

We have gun control now, it obviously didn't work. Whats more rational than that?

The only people responsible besides the kid are those, if any, who knew of his intentions and did nothing.

I was curious to see how he portrayed this case. Dr. Phil himself wasn't actually expressing any anti-gun positions, but his guests did it quite effectively.

Dr. Phil is a well known media anti gunner type. He also does lame shit like blame videogames for spree killings, etc. The guy is a wanker all the way around.

he is allowing that person to spew the anti-gun position so he doesn't have too. Someone said it before they have an agenda.

Sally homemaker is sitting at home being brainwashed right now, have you taken precautions?

Good points, all. Particularly Jryan's comment about if the kid had run a bus full of nuns off the road with a car.

Clearly, the entire show was anti-gun propaganda.

Regarding this point:

I agree completely, which is why I'm pissed-off and why I posted this thread as soon as I heard the call for a new AWB. The problem is, it wasn't the gun owner who did it. And it's very hard to defend leaving an AK and it's ammo unsecured and accessible to a kid.

All Suzy Homemaker hears is, "Ooh scary scary military weapon! Why would anyone need that? Nobody should be able to own such a thing! Ban them!"

It's frustating as hell. Yes, you and I can chose not to watch such programs because we know better, but I don't know that it helps our purpose any to simply ignore propaganda like this. How do you counter this rubbish?

A friend of mine is one of the top clinical psychologists in the country. Don't ever mention his name in her presence. She keeps nagging me about why that A--hole gets on TV and she doesn't

Worth noting that is his reportedly not licenced to practice psychology anywhere in the US following censure for unethical behavior. No wonder it burns your friend...[thinking]

The censure dates from 1989 and he has not fulfilled the requirements for reinstatement. No doubt he's working on that.

We are on the same page. I counter it with the argument that I am not a murderer and should lose any of my rights because murders exist and commit murder. As bad as I feel for Susie Homemaker's loss I prefer reason to emotion when deciding things like this.

PHIL

he is not a DR. of any thing.try finding where he took training.
as for un locked guns that was always the way it was.before socialist demorats.before WW2 I could walk in to any hardwear store and buy a gun,I dont remember any mention of age.mossbergs and savage were popular.and schools had rifle ranges and supplied the rifles.even the criminals avoided shooting.then the gov at the insistence of the anti drinking croud put in prohabition and started the gangs in the liquire business.[rolleyes][angry]

His academic credentials matter little. The fact that he's on the boob tube spewing anti-gun rhetoric to the Suzy Q. Homemakers of these United States greases the way for further usurpation of our so-called unalienable rights by our "elected" officials.
