How many of you have 2 of the same gun , and your reasoning behind it.

debating having 2 glock 19's... really hard to think of a reason to have 2, other than if the first glock breaks.. yeh like that will ever happen lol..
plus not being able to get a replacement frame for a glock.

only difference between the first and second is that the one im contemplating is an Austrian proof-marked glock 19, in the same L series serial range, it would make all my glocks in the L,M,N serial range:)

or, Pick up an Xd-S .45

Yes, I have duplicates. Things break - even Glocks - and in this State some firearms are difficult to come by as it is now. Who knows what it will be like in the next few years.

So I like to have a dupe (or two or three) of the ones I use most.

Heaven forbid it...but, were I forced to limit myself to only one handgun for all purposes, a Glock 19 is the most obvious contender for that (dubious) role. And...as they say...

two is one and one is none.

It's the only way to have a *complete* set of spare parts.

Also, if you read those articles on how to spot a concealed gun carrier, many of the tells involve asymmetry, such as having one side of your coat droop lower. Thus 2 identical pistols.

I have several arms that I have two of, same model, but not identical variants.
I have two Remington 870's, one is an MP870M riot gun w/Zytel stock, the other is an 870 express with wood.
I have two Ithaca 49's, one is blued with plain wood, the other is Cerrakoted with fancy checkered wood.
I also have a pair of Browning Hi-Powers, one is pimped out with hard chrome and gold, and the other is stainless with adj sights.
Then there are the J-frames, one is a model 60, the other a model 36. Same gun, but one is blued the other stainless.
I have a Browning B-92 and a Rossi R-92. Nearly identical rifles, the Browning is blued and the Rossi is stainless.
I had a pair of stainless Walther PPK's, one I got when my dad passed away, but I traded one for a SIG 229.
Lastly, I have three T/C Contenders, two currently set up as carbines and one as a pistol, but these can be changed to whatever configuration I want in a matter of minutes.

Maddie.... I have 2 Glock 19's... [smile] The G19 is the only one I'd keep out of my handguns if I could only keep one.

They're not identical though... one's a Gen3, one's a Gen4. I'm actually thinking of selling the Gen3 and grabbing another 4.

Anyway... I know you well enough to know that you're already going to buy a 2nd G19. You're just currently working on rationalizing it with the help of NES friends [wink]

I think it's a good idea. Especially with some harder to get guns. However if u don't reload and keep a decent amount of powder and bullets around or a stash of ammo then those two guns of the same caliber won't do much to help if ammo is in short supply.

I do reload but I also believe in having one in every caliber. 9mm tends to be the most popular and be sold out first. My favorite gun is my gen 4 23. But I also have the 30sf and 19 as just in case guns. Personally I don't like 9mm that much but I do have a few of them. If I could have one gun it would be the 30sf mainly because I shoot it the best. The 23 feels better in the hand but I shoot the 30sf better.

Queen Bee,
As a longtime SCUBA instructor I can tell you with certainty that there is never a need to justify or rationalize a redundant backup. At LEAST 2 of each, air supply, regulators, cutting tools, signals, lights, bouyancy devices, masks etc. Better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it!

I came across the twin to my daily car once in a local shop, S&W 908 nothing fancy but came close to pulling the trigger (pun intended) for the sole purpose of a back up but never did.

I would also like another G19.

For a long time I have wanted a second Glock 30 ( or maybe a M&P45 ) that would sit brand new in one of those pelican cases in cases as a SHTF

Have fun finding an Xd-S .45 in MA

I did have 2 Sig228s. The first was given to me by my brother and became my favorite gun. When I had the chance to get another one I did as I don't see too many pop up in MA.

I gave the first one to my son when he got his LTC and will get another when finances and opportunity allows. Of all my firearms it is still my favorite.

I do like the XDs, but only 5 rounds in the clip is a disappointment. Queen Bee, was it you that just snapped up that Glock 36 for $500? I was very tempted to grab it, but I don't have room in the safe to start a stockpile of another caliber. Someone got a great deal!

No im a Fan of the caliber glock originally made by gaston , the 9mm. The 45s just dont fit me .

In about a week i'll have my second glock 19 austrian proofed model unless the deal goes sour,
If it does then i'll pick up a keltec 32, or a beretta 950 jetfire from crsIII

The kel-tec p32 can really only be carried with FMJ. the hollow points cause The rims of the rounds to lock in the mag, better off with a 3at

The only "double" I have right now are two 1911s, although they're radically different from one another.

If I had the money I probably would have an extra G19 around.

I used to have lots of doubles in the past. AT one time I had two P229s in .40, and two P228s in 9mm, and two colt lightweight officer's models.

If SHTF, I can arm and train the whole neighborhood watch with my standard arsenal. [smile]
