I'm in the market for a 511 or a 512, and it looks like a lot of them have "For Law Enforcement/Military Use" written on the side of the dust cover. Are these legal to have on a Massachusetts AR15?

If not, what models are?

P.S. I was looking at Brownells.com to buy it because I want a reliable vendor and I dont want to get ripped off with a fake.
But look at this picture...

It looks like the buttons on the back of the site are really cheap and flat, compared to how there pictured here...

The back of this site looks more quality to me.

Does anyone have any info on the models that have the quality buttons vs the flat crappy looking ones.

They are legal. Become an NES member and you will probably be able to get a good deal on one.

Brownells has a terrible website. That picture is of an outdated model although they sell up-to-date models.

There's a vendor that frequents the shows, who sells them. You can get a great deal if you pay cash. You'll save some coin for sure. [wink] There's also a couple in the classifieds last I checked.

It does not say "For Law Enforcement/Military Use" ONLY.

Some of the one's I found with the newer more quality buttons say it.

I don't think glide quite got it correct.

It should read like this:
It does not say "For Law Enforcement/Military Use Only."

Either way, it does not matter. Nor are the older buttons poor quality - in fact you can argue that they are better sealed against the elements than the current model.

The only somewhat related restrictions have to do with hunting. That is, no night vision/thermal imaging or lasers allowed for hunting. Other than that, thankfully, you are good to go.
