I did it a few years ago using a dremel. Just tske your time and check often so that you don't end up with mag wobble. And remember to throw a trigger kit or furniture in it to make it 922r compliant.

he's not really a troll, FYI. He's built more AK rifles than you have swimmers in your testicles. And he is an asset to the people on here as he's guided many, many people in the process of building their own AKs from parts kits at NES AK build parties. The man is generous, smart, and an asset. He just tells it like it is, which some people can't handle.
as far as the OP's troubles are concerned, he's got a Romy 991 that he got in a bum trade from another NESr. The front trunnion is one of those special kinds that accepts only single stack AK mags. And, subsequently, the rifle's bolt has a lug that is narrow enough to strip rounds out of a single stack mag and feed into this front trunnion.
SO. What does this mean to the OP? A Few Things:
1. He can hog out the mag well with a dremel. He will also have to hog out the front trunnion as well (in the front of the mag well), which is entirely possible with the dremel tool. If you follow a mag well template, this will natrually happen when you go to make it larger.
2. Once it is sized accordingly (to the template, and so it accepts MULTIPLE types of double stack AK mags sufficiently -steel euro, bakelight euro, chinese steel, yugo steel, etc), he will then have to push out the two lower rear front trunnion rivets because he will have ground off one of their heads on the inside of the receiver.
3. Then he will have to get two new lower rear front trunnion rivets and re-apply them in these two locations. Now he has a double stack rifle, with a single stack bolt.
4. Now he must find a romanian AKM bolt. Standard AKM bolts from egypt, russia, bulgaria (7.62x39), and poland would do, as long as it headspaces well to the front trunnion. (do not use a yugo bolt, it will not work. Or a RPK bolt. Or a PSL bolt. Or a 5.45x39 bolt. Etc.) Now he has a double stack ready romanian AKM.
5. The OP got screwed in this trade by a whiley NESr. **** that guy.

now that i said that which i just said: i don't know how i missed this thread in the first place--but i honestly would have been less apt to assist you when you first PM'd me if i knew you called FGABF a douchebag and a troll. he has dug into his own personal AK parts stash for me because he was that concerned about my rifle turning out RIGHT.

I did the conversion for both my saigas to accept standard mags and they were also a bit tight on the sides of the mags so I had to dremel it down to fit. Not all that hard, just need to work on it little by little.

I have a plethora of many leather bound AK building books and numerous hand crafted custom tools in which I use to assemblicate the trickified AK ForteeSeven. It is a tricky beast that requires much testicular fortitude to tame, for it is assembled in the far east of the world, by mythical creatures that have an understanding of the mythical Forty Seven: the magic number of MOA.
I have read as much literature as I could about this little known and hardly understood symbol. It was engraved into ancient stone by the ancestors of man, so out of place in our evolution that people have speculated it came from extrterrestrials. Little know of it's origins, and I can only interpret what the mythical creatures produce, and can only recreate it, not entirely understanding the motives of their actions or the form of the AK ForteeSeven.
