After some very promising tests using Federal Auto-Match with the light spring in my mosquito, I wanted to grab a bunch more. Well I hit up Wally-World and saw Federal .22lr sitting right next to a ton of Federal .223 value packs. I was so filled glee to see the .223's that I didn't even notice I had just bought two bricks of Federal Bulk Pack .22lr and not the Auto-Match stuff.

Anybody ever get the bulk pack to work in their mosquito? My mosquito doesn't like Remington Golden Bullets with with the lite spring, and despises it with the standard spring.

My Mosquito works fine with Federal bulk packs. In fact it's all I shoot in it, I do occasionally have some issues but not enough to be a problem.

Which spring do you use?

I've been using CCI High Velocity with good results.

Yeah, I know CCI's work great, i'm just working on alternative less expensive solutions.

Mine only eats Remington Golden Bullet value packs from wally world.

I have tried mini-mag, american eagle, and fed. value pack with no luck...

Wow, i'm VERY surprised about the mini-mag. Do you have an older version? Mine came with a big pamphlet saying Sig approves and only recommends mini-mags. I even got a rebate on my first 4pack of mini-mags with the gun.

It's funny how they are each picky in their own way.

I shoot the Federal bulk in my Mosquito with the light spring, and get perhaps a 1 in 50 FTF/FTE with it. The pistol is only about 400 rounds old, though, so it's not broken in yet. Mini mag (with the exception of the first 30 shots) has worked with either spring. Now that I have 2 more mags for it, I need to get some more range time in.

Maybe Friday!!

Mine must be an older model...no reference in the manual about the mini-mags.

I purchased it new from FS in May, 2007

Slightly off topic... but I had to ask.

Which Wallyworld was it that had the .223??

In my Mosquito, Automatch is the preferred ammunition for general range use (of course it also loves CCI MiniMags). A less expensive alternative is the Federal Value Pack, but it requires a little preparation to run reliably. If you read the SIG Mosquito manual, you will see a paragraph in the Ammunition section. It describes lightly lubricating the cartridges to aid in feeding and ejection. My recipe is to lay out ~100 rounds on a silicone gun cloth and give them a two-second spritz of silicone spray lubricant from ~12 inches away. Fold the cloth over the cartridges and roll them around to distribute the lube. It doesn't take much. Do it the day before you shoot, and I store the rounds in empty MiniMag plastic containers (100 rounds each) to prevent them from picking up dirt.

Run 100 lubricated and 100 neat. You will see a difference. This also works with the Federal Champion Target 510 loads too. [wink]
