feedback please, re: .32's

I would urge you to take a serious look at the keltec.
after that . I liked the naa a lot more than the seecamp.

I should add. I have owned in the past:

Naa 32
seecamp 32 (pre lock version)
q2 beretta tomcats
keltec

The only one I kept was the keltec, and it's the cheapest of the bunch.

I'm surprised you left out Keltec. In .32 ACP, it's a terrific little shooter.

I recently upgraded to .380, however, and also installed a Crimson Trace laser. The entire 7 shot pistol slides easily into my pants pocket with the laser and is so light I almost forget it's there. Yet, it's as accurate as any other .380 (or .32 for that matter) and made right here in the USA. It's also not fussy about ammo. Here's a shot compete with installed laser.

Without the laser, the Keltec is an instinctive shooter. With the laser, it brings about 1000% more accuracy to your shot placement regardless of your position. I can't say enough about the Crimson Trace unit.

Do you want to carry FMJ or hollowpoints? Some who carry the .32 only carry FMJ's, for better penetration. I've got a CZ-50 that is completely reliable and a great little shooter. It doesn't like anything besides FMJ's though. (old design). I carried it for a little while because it's such a comfortable gun to carry, but I won't carry anthing smaller than a .380 now.

if you are not dead set on a 32.. a snubbie in 38 or 357 gives a lot more punch for the trade off of just being a little bigger

and to tag off of jacks' messg. about options..
With the clip on the keltec, you don't even need a holster.

I agree with the more punch, but IMHO my 642 is a whole lot bigger than my NAA Guardian.

I got a Colt Government .380.

@ 3/4" thick it conceals much better than the Walther PPK/Sig 230 types and functions like a little 1911. They are hard to find and pricey, though.

I have a 1903 Colt Hammerless in 32 that is a blast to shoot. I obvioulsy don't carry it (I say obviously as it is in great shape and I'd hate to hurt it's value) but I fell in love with the round. I have been considering a pocket carry bug and like the look of the Seecamp but I understand that it is finickey about ammo. I am watching this thread closely as I am not sure which way to go either. I have heard good things about the Keltec but love the look of the Seecamp (I'm very shallow and need to like the way my gun looks as much as the way it functions) [thinking]

I look forward to your final decision anxiously [smile]

Seecamp is a PITA - ammo jams, uncomfortable to fire, PITA to field strip and reassemble.

Couldn't get rid of it fast enough.

See? All personal opinion, every Seecamp owner who has one (that I have spoken with, and they are all men) love them.

Better than the 32 and the 380: NAA Guardian .32 NAA

From the web page:
The 32NAA is a new cartridge/firearm 'system' designed and developed by the partnership of North American Arms and Cor-Bon Ammunition.

In essence, the cartridge is based on a 380 case, which is necked-down to hold a smaller 32 bullet. The benefit is a remarkable gain in ballistic performance (below).

The .32NAA Guardian pistol is designed around this cartridge. This gun is almost identical to .380 ACP Guardian, different only in the chamber and the size of the bore. The cartridge is manufactured by Cor-Bon, a well-recognized industry leader in the development of high-performance ammunition.

To summarize, the load delivers in excess of 1222 f.p.s. velocity to a 60 grain proprietary bullet from Hornady. This generates 199 ft. lbs of energy, specifically from the 2.5" Guardian barrel (1453 f.p.s. & 287 ft. lbs from a 4" test barrel).

According to industry expert Ed Sanow, the 32NAA:
Four layers of Denim and 8.3 inches of Gelatin

  • Produces more velocity, more energy and more stopping power than any conventional jacketed lead hollow point (JHP) 32 ACP, 380 ACP or 380 ACP (+P) with 15% less recoil (Power Factor) than the (+P),
  • Penetrates 8.3" of Gelatin after passing through four (4) layers of denim, expanding to a .55" mushroom with a retained weight of 100%,
  • Has a Fuller Index of 62% One-Shot Stops, compared to (for example) the 380 ACP Federal 90gr. Hydra-Shok (53%).

Designed for law enforcement and people serious about personal protection, we think the results speak for themselves.

I took the afternoon off & visited a couple of my favorite gun shops to check out all the makes/models of the .32. My comparison included offerings from KelTec & Walther. I selected/ordered the Seecamp. My selection was based on looks/feel & ease of concealment. It will be used for 24/7 pocket carry. Some of you wrote about upgrading to .380’s & .38’s. My daily carry gun is an S&W 642, either in pocket or ankle holster depending on day’s activities. Within the last 3-4 months, I have opted to leave it home & carry my .22 Beretta instead because I found it easier to carry/conceal. My thought is that carrying small is better than not carrying at all. I also own a Sig P232 that is one of our ‘house guns’. It’s also used to instruct/intro family/friends to shooting. I used to carry it in my winter coat, glove box, & IWB. I just stopped carrying it one day.
Thanks for all your responses. They were much appreciated.
