Beauty, yes. But you will be bitching after you did a take down cleaning and try to put it back. Save $$ and get yourself a majestic arm speed strip kit.

Nice! I love mine. Grab some Hogue grips and a cheap red dot to make it even more fun to shoot. I also had a friend of mine put in the Volquartsen target sear and drilled and tapped an overtravel screw on the trigger. Trigger breaks like glass.

Yeah no lie, it took me 2 hours to disassemble and assemble my first time. So be patient the first time. I'll send some YouTube video links later that I found were helpful in disassembling it.

Volquartsen trigger upgrade with the MkII bushing (mag catch override) will be the best upgrade you can make on that one. No more takedown/re-assembly trouble after that... You just need to know to angle the whole gun back while closing the mainspring latch.
I did this, spent some time polishing the inside of the handle where moving parts touched, and did the bolt upgrade kit.

I've since not had a FTE or FTF in something like 1000 rounds... In fact, it absolutely loves (and is most accurate with!) the trash Winchester M22 that doesn't function in my Remmie 597 or my friends' Marlin 62.

beautiful handgun.
i almost got one but i also heard about the takedown procedure being annoying.
also heard the mags don't seat and eject well...peeps been blaming the mag disconnect for this issue.
is it true or hogwash?

after watching the youtube video kelton send, take down is not that bad and the majestic arm speed strip kit chinalfr recommends will take care of the annoyance of the takedown process.

After I volquartsenized mine, the mags don't just fall out, they ABSOLUTELY JUMP out. No problems whatsoever with three OEM (one original, two new) Ruger mags.

Mine, Volquartsen action and trigger, Dawson front sight, Square cut rear sight blade and mag safety delete bushing. Now it is my favorite gun!

Are they hard to install? I'm pretty newbie on these...

Remove the grips, push out a few pins, and all the fiddly bits will barf out all over your bench. [smile]

There are some excellent videos - Even tho I photographed everything coming apart, I had to reference a youtube vid to get it back together.
Of course it didn't help that I did the work over a long weekend, with polishing and a WallMart run in between dis- and re-assembly.
Not hard, just be methodical and you'll be fine.

Before I forget - The "Magazine disconnect bushing" option in a MkIII is literally just a MkII bushing in the same position, and the deletion of a little piece of sheet metal. Check the YouTube vids, and if you order a trigger kit from Volquartsen direct, make sure to tell them you want the mag disconnect delete (MkII) bushing.

is this the ultradot?

I don't think so. It was just their generic Red Dot. I think it was like 59 bucks with the gun, 79 without. I have had it for a couple years now and it works well. The only time I had to change the battery is one time I forgot to shut it off.

Thanks, I will take it to the range the weekend to play around before ordering. Red dot is on transit, should be here on Wednesday.

Congrats you will love it. I have the mark III target super accurate. Like other posters said assemble can be a pain in the ass the first few times, a rubber mallet will help with barrel removal but after a while it will come off and go on no ploblem.

The new models were not tested by the A.G office yet there for they are not compliant.

The AG does not test firearms. The Mfg self certifies that they believe they comply with the AG requirements and sends the AG a letter saying as much, and that they'll be making the model in question available for sale shortly unless the AG objects.

What's "new" about the Mk III? It's on the EOPS roster and has been for quite some time, and they were previously saying that they are compliant with the AG regs. What changed?

How is any Mk III not compliant? It has a very obvious loaded chamber indicator, a magazine disconnect, and a manual safety. The manual safety seems to be how Ruger and other Mfg's are satisfying the "multiple motions" part of the AG requirements while having a <10 lbs trigger pull.

It's A LOT easier the 2nd time.

Really. Once you figure out what has to happen it all goes quite easily. I learned the hard way. Pre internet. No manual. No mentor. Nothing. Of course I have always been intrigued by the way things work.

Yes, it's beautiful... except for that damn aluminum rail! Please do yourself a favor like I did and call up Ruger to complain about it. Ask them how it's possible they could take such a beautiful looking gun and ruin it by sending you an aluminum rail that doesn't match anything and actually detracts from the beauty of the gun. Ask them to swap you for a black one that will match the sights and really make the gun look sharp. When I did it the customer rep agreed with me and sent me a black rail for free and told me not to bother returning the other one. The gun looks 100 times better with a rail that matches the sights (if you care about that sort of thing).

Good luck with it, she's really a great pistol.
