They already did, more or less. The two 'published' databases could be cross-referenced to ID someone and what guns are on their state record. There was some discussion here about whether or not the data could actually be used to find someone. There was a guy who basically called many of us 'tards and bed-wetters over the usefulness of that data. Found him, his list of guns, and a Google Earth pic of his house in a couple minutes. If that isn't a concern, your local PD can pull up your list of firearms on record.
