First AR

Ill start by saying I dont know much at all about AR's at all.

But with the results of the election, I cant wait much longer to get one. At first I was thinking of getting a plain Bushmaster M-4 Post Ban. However after seeing all the things people have done with their AR's I am looking to do something a little more custom. The closest one ive seen to what I would want is Rockrvr's from the "show me your ar" thread I believe ( really nice btw).

This is the route I was thinking of going....

I would like to go thru JDL as I have heard great things about him. I was thinking of going with the stag tactical (m4) complete lower. (Hopefully get that for Christmas)

As for the upper I would like an a2 front sight, with a removal carry handle so I can replace that with optics if I decide to get something down the road.

I really like the forends/ handguard? of the YHM
and last but not least, a real aggressive looking muzzle break for looks

This sound like a reasonable approach or what?

PS. After all that... price is a factor too (trying to keep it down, we'll see how that turns out)

thats another thing, at least with hanguns I know whats good and not so good - springfield, kimber - good, para, auto ord - no so good

Where do stag, bushmaster, armalite, etc etc etc line up?

What do you want to do with it and how much are you looking to spend. Remember this when it comes to building AR's Buy once Cry once. You will be much beter served to buy quality parts the first time instead of the second time. If you want to see pics of my build to give you an Idea let me know.
