Was fortunate enough to pick up one of these at Four Seasons last week, brand new, off the shelf, for $1195

Took it to Manchester today for it's christening. Ran flawless (with a new mag) with their crappy copper ammo, 60rds. (to not ruin the range, they make you buy their special ammo at $18 for 20 rounds)

I had major problems with jamming off the bat with the stock magazines... the cheap plastic ones it came with. Had to partially disassemble 3 times in the first 10rds. Rounds were feeding half way and causing major jams... the charge handle wouldnt even budge (hope I didn't cause any damage).

Purchased a used metal mag for $25 just to get the thing to work. With the new mag, the gun performed great for the next 50 rounds. Very tight groups at 25yds with sights at stock adjustments.

Cleaned after I got home with Hopps #9 and got 3 extremely filthy patches... DPMS isn't joking when they say clean after every round for the first 25 for break in.

Just thought I would share... since I got so lucky purchasing off the shelf brand new I think these might be available more readily. Anyone else have any other tips for a new one of these?

Cliffs = Throw the included mags in the garbage if you purchase a new DPMS A-15

I have some of those plastic DPMS 10-rounders, and they work flawlessly (except for the 11th round, I suppose). Something is wrong. First, verify that there is a problem by trying the 10-rounders with real ammo (e.g., M193). If the problem persists and you you can't figure it out yourself, try calling "Shane" in "Repairs" at DPMS at 1-800-578-3767.

...so you didn't follow dpms "stringent" break in schedule?
I have been wondering if "clean after every round for 25 rounds" is really necessary...[hmmm]

Clean after every round for the first 25? That has to be the dumbest thing I've ever heard of from a manual. How can one round after the first initial cleaning dirty the rifle that much to justify cleaning it, let alone again after the next 24?

What am I missing?

I am off to the very same range in a bit. Glad you got something you really wanted.

I agree with you smiles1014, yet my new dpms/manual says that verbatim.
I was hoping to hear from the OP, but guess not. I would like some feedback on this from someone who owns a dpms...
