Flayderman's Guide to Antique American Firearms and Their Values

Anyone use this book? Was wondering if this is the 'Bible' of gun values or if something else is more respected.

I use flayderman's all the time.
I find the descriptions and photos to be great.

for prices I like watching what guns go for, at JC Devine and Amoskeag auctions.

Is there any good website that gives that sort of information or is purchasing the book the only real way to go.

I spend a lot of time on the web (no sh*t) and I've never come across one. I just ordered the book.

Thank god for yearly updates as all those drool stains get tough to read through after a few months...

There's a couple so called price guides out there, but none come even close to the quality & accuracy of Flaydermans. As far as the prices go, you can throw the values out the window. Whatever value for any piece, a dealer like Michael Long or any other antique arms dealer will sell for 10X to 30X higher.
