Mailed application out to Dept of Agriculture, FL: Sep 20th

Received CWP in mail today: Oct 30th

That's what I call customer service. The permit was actually issued on Oct 24th, which means it took only some 22 business days for Florida do run through its administrative procedure.

I've heard of others tell how quickly they've gotten their FL CWP but I really think the little time they took on mine is impressive.

Now only if my MA LTC would turn around as quickly I'd truly be a happy camper (imagine that).

I also got my CWP paperwork for a planned vacation to Florida, but I was a bit stuck on the guidelines and filed the paperwork away. I've had my Mass. LTC permit for over 10 years, but will I need to take a new class anyway for the Florida permit?

doesnt a nh non res permit have reciprocity in fl?

Only for NH residents. FL reciprocity requires that the state recognize FL permits, and that it be issued in your state of residence to qualify.

Two interesting things about FL permits:

1. The mailing address includes the term "consumer services"

2. The name of the issuing official on the permit is "Charles Bronson." Priot to that, it was Kathering Harris.

My MA permit took 4.5 weeks.

However, they still havn't sent me my pin number. (I think I need a pin number to purchase all firearms. I'm not 100% sure on this.)

It's been about 6 weeks now. :(

When I picked up my LTC A card this summer..there was a computer printout with a pin number. Seems like they forgot to print it out for you possibly. Check with the officer who helped you.

Good advice. I had the impression that an applicant had to have a license from their state of residence to apply. That is true, isn't it?

As soon as MA mails its LTC I shall.

If you think 22 days is good, then apply for a NH non-res permit.

The PIN is required only if the shop has a problem with the fingerprint scanner which interfaces to the MIRCS system via the web.

After looking over the instructions for the application, it doesn't appear that there is a statue of limitation on your training. As long as you can document the training that you provided to get your MA LTC, it would appear to be acceptable for your FL licensure application. Otherwise you may be required to take a new class.

I took a scan of the relevant page of the instructions for your peruse. Examine the instructions for question six {training documentation}.

Thank you for the information and the scan. I wound up calling them about the training and you were correct there is no statute of limitations on old training as long as the documentation provided is legible. Just to be on the safe side I will most likely include the last certifications I got when I did my renewal here in Mass.

Thanks again.
