So I am looking at 9mm 115 and 124 FMJ recessed base from Everglades and they are $100 less for 2k pieces than the "normal" FMJ bullets. Anyone know why they are so much cheaper? I am trying to figure out why they are 40% cheaper, when they seem to be pretty much the same. My alarm bells and my skinflint nature are in conflict. If it matters, this will be an N320 load.

Thank you

I'm just guessing here. Maybe lack of load data on recessed base so people aren't buying them? I ql wouldn't think twice about it. Easy enough to work up. It's only 9mm.

Lack of load data is not a reason why people arent buying them. Nearly every conceivable powder / bullet / primer / brass combination has been tried with results posted online somewhere on the dozens of shooting forums available.

It's not a fmj, the base is exposed lead . buy them, shoot them, and you may not notice any difference other than when cleaning.

Honestly, I got a bunch of concave base 9 mm from American reloading and since the concave was really minor, I don’t think I adjusted the powder charge even, considering that a concave base will lower the pressure and slow the bullet down

From the vendor you posted, concave are 57 per 500 and "regular" are 89 per 500 and out of stock.

I load 124 RN from XTreme, and their price listed right now is 48.49 per 500. I've shot literally tens of thousands of their rounds without issue, (other than my marksmanship or lack thereof).

No idea if XTreme ships to your state.

Xtreme is cheaper today than two days ago, and you get the ammo can with it, so guess its extreme.

The one that's out of stock, that's probably a FakePrice(tm) probably based on panic rape or something. If something is cleaned out a vendor tends to not update the price to current market conditions.

Go on TSUSA and look up some 9mm ammo that is out of stock. There's prices in their system that are like 2018 old and basically invalid.

Ok, that makes sense, and dovetails with what walter62 said.

I tried hollow base 45ACPs once. If I recall correctly, I wasn’t able to get a tight crimp as the bullet seemed to smoosh down from the crimping pressure. I recall that the bullets were basically loose in the case no matter what I did.
