Does anyone have any time running one of these? Are they available in MA, stocking dealers? I'm thinking of getting into 3 gun and this seems to be the ticket. Thanks for any advice.

I've not shot one, but, I've shot with folks that do. It's pretty complete out the box, and runs well too. It, like all shotguns will need "personal touches". Also, remember that in 3 gun, the shotgun is traditionally the weak link, regardless of brand!

Are you thinking of the Mark 1 or the 18" SLP?

I run the Winchester SX2 which is the same gun, different brand. I decided to go with a stock SX2 with 24" rib barrel and go from there. Added FO sights, side saddle, ext mag tube, Nordic bolt release, and some mods internally. The gun is fantastic. Runs like a champ and shoots very well. I put the sporting clays piston in as well and it now eats anything that I put it in (incl. the walmart value packs). Its a great platform for 3 gun.

The Mark 1 is a great option and will give you a solid starting platform that will run right out of the box. Add a side saddle and some other stuff (like a barrel clamp) and you are good to go. I would highly recommend polishing the loading gate and relieving the frame around the loading port to make your life easier. These guns are very fast and handle well. Are you planning on shooting tactical?

If so, one other consideration (which is why I went with the SX2) is whether you prefer the sights on the Mark 1 barrel or prefer a rib. Personally, I like a rib bead more and find that for me its quicker for target acquisition. Its all personal preference at that point. You can also cut off the rail mount on the Mark 1 to shave some weight if you want to.

Thanks again for the recommendations. They seem very solid and in line with what I was thinking. Was thinking of running a trijicon 8 moa rmr on it, which is another reason I was looking at the mark 1. Have you tried running a red dot?

I ran a jpoint red dot on my 11-87 shotgun mounted on the rib. It worked well, only if the shotgun worked as well. I have since dropped the 11-87 for a saiga

I have a red dot running on a converted Saiga that I'm getting ready for next year. Its a lot of fun on a shotgun. One thing to be aware of is if you are planning on running a RMR on the gun then that will put you in open. The tec-loaders you see in Mike's video are not available for the SLP. They only make them for the benelli's and Remi's. The benelli plate can be fit to the SLP but you have to redrill the mounting holes and brace. Without the loaders you'll get smoked trying to load by hand. If you do want to stay in Open and don't want to try to get the plate to work right then you may be better off with a Saiga or something else. If you were thinking of tactical division then I would say the SLP is a great way to go. Just my .02.

Thanks. That was great info. I want to stay away from the open stuff. Has anyone purchased an slp in MA?

Supermoto, you are a bad influence, but I like the way you think. the saiga is an option, I was checking one out a Zero Hour. My only hang up with it is I'm used to the traditional look and function of the FN, Benelli, and Remington design from waterfowl hunting. Thanks again for all the info. I hope to be up and running soon.

Fast, but I have to start with what I got.

I do REALLY want to put a thumb hole stock on a Saiga, and this would totally give me a good reason. Does the standard Saiga come with a choked barrel?
