What "hardware" (for lack of a better term) do you use to attach a handguard, in this case I am thinking a MagPul MOE M-Lok (MOE® M-LOK® Hand Guard, Rifle-Length – AR15/M4) to an AR-15 receiver?

The install instructions for that just show how to use MLOK.
It seems that this hand guard just “drops in” to replace what you have if you have something like the A2 hand guards. You don’t need extra hardware.

Right. This one is not free-floated. It simply replaces your clamshell handguard. It still needs the front retainer.
I got mine from here. It comes with a barrel nut. You can get KeyMod or MLoK Versions.

These pictures may make my plan more apparent. This is the upper from a WW Predator. Iwant to replace the aluminum handguard with an M-Lok.
And one question. If I remove the front gas block, does the gas tupe just slide off the rear atttachment point?
