Dropping this in New England Gun Laws forum only because I don't see a better place.
There are lots of threads posted about the renewal process, particularly in Massachusetts;
here's a link to a popular thread: How long did your LTC-A take in your town???
I offer for comparison my wife's and my recent experience in Bryan County, Georgia.
1) Fill out online renewal apps within 90 days of current permit expiration.
2) Mon 10/26 - Call local probate court and make an appointment.
3) Thu 10/29 - walk into probate court, provide IDs, sign app and pay, (30$ each)
4) Fri 11/06 - Online banking shows that checks have been cashed
5) Mon 11/09 - receive renewed permits in the mail, (postmarked 11/06 in Jacksonville, FL)
Yeah. That simple. And there's no reason it can't be that simple everywhere.
Note also - this was done while the admin building is running under "covid protocols"; they're minimizing contact with people and requiring appointments so that they can minimize the number of people in their building/office.
