I just got back from AFS where I rented a Glock 22.

I felt that the Glock 22 .40 S&W had less recoil than a Beretta 92FS 9mm.

I discussed this with the man behind the counter and he mentioned it being a "GEN III Glock" with added recoil reduction features.

I was just curious if GEN III Glocks were available in Massachusetts to qualified licensees.

Would you sacrifice these recoil reducing features if you had a GEN I or GEN II?

ONE MORE THING!!!!

I was shooting low and left. Any recommendations?

Gen III Glocks are unavailable from dealers. You MAY from time to time get one from a private sale. However, the person who told you about the "recoil reduction added features in the GEN 3" is COMPLETELY full of shit. I wouldn't buy ANYTHING from them.

You might want to look into a Smith and Wesson M&P semi-auto.

I don't ever remember reading anything about "recoil reduction" features in the 3rd Gen Glocks. You can replace the factory recoil spring with an aftermarket recoil spring setup - like the ones available from DPM, and these will help reduce the recoil. I have done this to a couple of my Glocks - and the new spring setup does definitely help reduce the felt recoil.

3rd Gen Glocks are generally not available from a dealer - BUT - Four Seasons in Woburn has had some for sale recently which were police turn ins. You can also buy 3rd Gen Glocks thru private sale (FTF) - I have bought four 3rd Gen Glocks this way.

There is nothing in the law that says a "gualified licensee" cannot own a 3rd Gen Glock - you just have to find one that is legally for sale.

Low and left means you were wrapping your finger around the trigger. The pad on the end of your finger (where you fingerprint is) is what should be on the trigger, not the joint.

Not sure about glocks and "special recoil reduction features" but I have a gen 2 G17 and a 92fs and the glock has less recoil than that so I doubt the 3rd gen ones are more superior. In fact, my P226 9MM, H&K USP 9MM, H&K mk23 (.45), etc and all have less recoil than the beretta and I suspect it is a result of the design. All but the beretta have tilt barrel designs while the beretta has a fixed barrel and locking block like a 1911. But the beretta is really accurate and a great gun. I would sell my glock before I sold that. At the end of the day, if you shoot enough, the recoil won't be an issue.

Low left may be a trigger issue like terraformer said, but it's most often a 'flinch'. A flinch is anticipating the recoil and pushing back against it before it happens. This moves the barrel down and left before the shot goes off. The two keys to cure it are dry fire and ball and dummy drills.

I have two G22 Gen 3's reconditioned from the Treasury dept. I'm keeping one because it nails tacks at 25 yds, but the other I'm considering selling.

Four Season`s

If you are a duly licensed MA resident and you can find a MA dealer that is willing to sell you a G22 3rd Generation, there is nothing in law that prevents you from purchasing and possessing this gun.

They are advertising 3rd generation G22`s for $599.00. Not a bad deal. I bough one from Mike Larocca last year for $650.00. It had night sights and 2 hi-cap mags thou.
