Republican Andrew Clyde wants to eliminate Brady background checks on firearm purchases
Georgia Rep.-elect Andrew Clyde arrived in the nation's capital with the unique distinction of already having a federal law named after him.
The gun store owner gained prominence for fighting back when the IRS suddenly seized nearly $1 million from his bank account in 2013.

Not only did Clyde win his civil asset forfeiture case against the IRS, but he got Congress to pass a law last year so the IRS could never do it again.

"That entire ordeal really showed me that one person who is persistent and tenacious and just doesn't give up can actually make a difference," Clyde, 57, told Fox News in an interview.

was commissioned as an officer in the United States Navy through Notre Dame's NROTC program. He served for 28 years, including deployments to Iraq, Afghanistan, Panama, and Kuwait including three combat deployments.[3][4] Clyde retired with the rank of Commander and had received the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, a Navy Achievement Medal, and four Navy Commendation Medals.[3] While in the Navy, Clyde earned a Bachelor of Business Administration cum laude from Bethel University in Indiana.[5]

Clyde opened a gun shop, Clyde Armory, Inc., in Athens, Georgia, in 1991. He has a second location in Warner Robins, Georgia. He grew the business to $12 million in sales and 30 employees.[5] In 2013, he was subject to a civil asset forfeiture of $940,000 by the Internal Revenue Service. It was later reversed, refunding him $900,000.[3]
